Let's put the "landslide" talk to rest. The difference between Harris and Trump is 2.9 million. Trump got 50.2% of the vote. Harris got 48.2%. 1.6% didn't want either of them and voted for third parties.

So TBT, Trump got 50.2% of the vote. Other candidates got 49.8% of the vote. Is 4/10 of 1% a "landslide?" A "mandate." It's a tragedy for sure, an indication of the lack of critical thinking skills people are taught, but a "landslide?" No.

I would say there is a 110% chance that those 49.8% of voters are 110% as sure that Gaetz is guilty as they are that Trump is guilty of all the charges he spent $100 million and called up favors from biased Supreme Court Justices to get out of.

How much trust can those 49.8% of voters trust the Justice Department if the AG himself is a fugitive from Justice, resigning from Congress just in time to prevent what is called a damaging (actually, another d word was used) report from coming out?

A president elect who won with a teeny, mere .4% of the votes and whose appointments so far have ranged from borderline adequate (Rubio) to purported Russian spies (Gabbard), accused pedophiles/addicts (Gaetz), and dubious health skeptic with a worm in his brain (RFK, Jr), does not have a mandate.

AH -but a President who won over his opponent by 2,900,000 of the popular vote - 312 of 538 Electoral votes - his party won the Senate - the House and all seven swing states.

That is a landslide and the people have given him a mandate.

Well, to be fair, all that says is that a (slight) majority of Americans didn't care about Donald Trump's criminal convictions. That doesn't mean they'll feel the same about any other politician's criminal record.

I would think that the results of an ethics investigation would be relevant information when evaluating a person for the position of Attorney General, but that's just me.

Senator Durbin tells House ethics panel to preserve Gaetz report, records​

“Make no mistake: this information could be relevant to the question of Mr. Gaetz’s confirmation as the next Attorney General of the United States and our constitutional responsibility of advice and consent.”

U.S. Senator Mike Rounds, Republican of South Dakota, Friday afternoon made clear the Senate has a constitutional responsibility to provide advice and consent on presidential nominees, and is required to examine all evidence it can during the confirmation process. Rounds, who also has served as governor of The Mount Rushmore State, told CNN’s Manu Raju that if necessary they will subpoena the House Ethics Committee’s report on Gaetz.

“I think Senator [John] Cornyn, who sits on the Judiciary Committee, has indicated that very strongly that he believes that there may very well be a way to compel the release of that [report] through a subpoena. That committee and they do this all the time and it becomes very sensitive. We do have a process in place which includes the ability to get that type of information in many cases,” Rounds said. “And what we want to do is make good decisions based upon all the relevant facts and information that we can get.”

“We should be able to get a hold of it,” Rounds added, referring to the report.
