The 12 steps of Alcoholics anonymous were developed directly from the Christian faith, (by a Priest and a doctor). They have been used successfully for all manner of addictions for nearly a century. It acknowledging you sin and your self powerlessness, then falling to a humble state, and asking and allowing God to remove your compulsion. The steps are these:Hi all, Im 16 and I have a problem with masturbating. I need people to pray for me becuase I need to ask God were I am, If im really a christian and if im not, how to surender to him and become a christian and stop my addiction.
1. We admitted we were powerless over (?) (masturbation in your case), and that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity (Christ)
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. (everything....not just our addiction)
5. Admitted to God, ourselves, and another human being, the exact nature of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely read to have God remove all these defects of Character.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all, (remember this isn't just about your particular addiction. Earlier in the steps you will discover that your addiction is a symptom of something larger)
9. Made direct amends to such persons except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us, and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry the message to others struggling with the same conditions, and to practice these principles in ALL our affairs.
This was replaced for me, eventually, by the Church in conversion, but in a sense, I use these twelves steps still, and for all of temptations to sin. These principles work. They are also designed in a way, that if you stumble and fall, you can just go back to step one, and begin again. As many times as it takes. It will help build your faith in God, and it lets Christ farther into your heart, mind and soul. There are also groups you can go to who use these principles for a variety of things including sexual addictions and issues.
No matter how far one has fallen into masturbation, lust, pornography, or any other sexual unchastity issue, there is ALWAYS blessed hope in Christ Jesus for His grace to fill that need.
You have been prayed for as well,
May God bless and keep you,
