  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There's not much I can contribute that hasn't already been said. Masturbation is healthy in moderation, I don't think anyone disputes this. By my standards of morality masturbation is great. Nobody gets hurt, it's good for you, it's enjoyable. Don't abuse a good thing, don't over-eat, touch all day, drink yourself dead, or anything like that.

I'm not saying things that I don't really think. Everyone dies, whether they touch or not.

Ok, thank you for your opinion:)

Also don't they say it causes blindness? :(
That's about as true as the claims that it makes you grow hair on your hands or that you'll get sick and die from it. Or that cracking your knuckles will make them get huge when you grow up. Or if you keep making faces like that your face will freeze like that.

Anything not done in moderation can be considered harmful. In all honesty its a matter of personal choice. I do object when people make others feel dirty and terrible for masturbating--it's a pretty personal thing and I don't think it's any of our business what people do in their spare time. ;)

Masturbation is a mortal sin, all who do this vile act will surely die.
Most people who replied to this topic believe that masturbation is normal healthy activity. Why do you think otherwise? Mortal sin? Why's that? What do you do when you get sexual urges and your wife is not around?

If Jesus didn't get sexual urges he wasn't fully human. You're telling me that he can feel pain, eat food, produce saliva, urinate, etc, but doesn't have any sort of sex drive? That's not human.
While I'm not sure that I would say that Jesus did not have a sex drive, I also don't think that having a sex drive is an essential part of human. There have been some historical figures that did not seem to particularly care about sex at all (Lovecraft comes to mind since I am familiar with him; there are probably others), and today there are people who claim to be asexual in that they simply don't get sexual urges. Are those people then not fully human?

It seems that from a certain christian standpoint anything involving the genitals is wrong,

eh? where did you get that idea from? many Christians think that touching yourself is wrong but that definetly doesn't mean anything to do with the genitals is wrong!

God commands us to have sex but he says only to do it with the one you love and are married to because sex is special, it bonds people together.

"When the temptation to touch is strong, yell "STOP!" to those thoughts as loudly as you can in your mind. Then recite a portion of the Bible or sing a hymn." (Mormon Guide to Self-Control)

I suggest that reciting from the Song of Songs might not be a good choice. Actually this is an important book because it presents love and sex as perfectly natural and a gift from God.

Also, there's a wonderful speaker named Christopher West who speaks on the Catholic idea of the "Theology of the Body". If I am thinking correctly, masturbation uses the sexual urge for merely pleasurable purposes and turns it in on the acting person, whereas sex is made to be generative and turned upon another. :p

Would this include mutual touching yourself? Many couples find it to be a most enjoyable activity.

Nothing wrong with masturbation. Viewing a particular gender as just objects of lust is wrong, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying how God arranged certain nerves.

I don't see why the church doesn't encourage it and discourage unmarried sex. Masturbation can help an unmarried person wait until they get married.
