  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

another interesting but COMPLETELY irrelevant topic. There are a few types of wasps, apparently that use mind-control.. or make zombies... or however you want to call it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UkDMrG6tog

So, is a "voodoo wasp" a product of sin? Or did such behavior happen to an otherwise normal wasp because of human sin? If so, does Jesus' death pay for the sins of wasps? lol!

... probably a more reasonable example is the leech. It drinks blood... which we're NOT supposed to do. Yet, the leech is a valuable part of nature... even though it would be a sin for us to imitate it.

... interesting? No?

wow...
wow...
that is creepy
well all of this comes from Adams sin, and Jesus paid for that, the Bible says that at the end of time the lion will lie down with the lamb, and the child will walk through the vipers nest.
It can also be assumed that the creepy wasp will be friends with the catapiller
oh man that was so creepy

it looks like that really creeped you out ^_^

actually...yea ..it's pretty creepy..
I think that animals are not sinful but they are fallen too ,they were affected by our fall. All of nature must be redeemed..the whole universe waits for our salvation! When Christ will come, He will make all things new..

Lol, yea, there's some CRAZY creatures out there. Here's one that I often use to support the idea of intelligent design (the catholic viewpoint) instead of evolution (non-catholic):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWB_COSUXMw

... So... how could that evolve slowly? Without many changes at the same time, none of it would work. But that's not my question for you... my question for you is... Did God design those worm thingys specifically to stump evolutionists? Or do parasitic mind controlling suicide worms result from adam's sin?

I like brain-puzzles... My answer: I dunno... but it's weird.

Do you guys want to explore the tangent of animals? Maybe someone should make a new thread and give us a link in case someone wants to come back to the original topic? But my questions were answered:

According to a few people here masturbation is -USUALLY- wrong because the intent is -USUALLY- selfish in nature. However, the act isn't -inherently- wrong because it CAN be a considerate act leading up to procreation or as a sort of exercise to train one's body to better be prepared for the actual unitive act. So long as the intent is to improve yourself out of love for your partner... not out of selfishness. ... Kind of like doing lots of sit-ups. It's hard work, it hurts afterwords, but it pays off in the end. ... The sit ups... not... :sorry:

eherm.

Anywho... Do I understand this correctly? That there IS an exception... no blanket "touching yourself is always bad!"

If it is a preparation for the unitive act - foreplay - it's OK. But the "training" comparison does not hold, because the truth is, you DON'T neeed to touch to train your body for sex. And it's NOT hard work, nor does it hurt .... quite the contrary... so let's just say that this sounds suspiciously like trying to find an excuse!!!...

Good... I was thinking I'd have to change the title of this thread to "Masturbation and parasitic insects" ... which is a combination I'd rather not imagne.

There was only one person who said such, which is why I made sure it was the consensus... because it seemed to be glossed over the last time I asked.

I'm not looking for "excuses" ... I'm just horribly opposed to "blanket statements." So here's a situation: MANY sexual disorders (esp. "finishing" too early or having a difficult time finishing at all) are purely psychological. It's a matter of people getting nervous or distracted or just focusing on the wrong thing. Most examples are too graphic to be listed here... but pretend a couple went to therapy because the wife just never seemed to enjoy it... which made the husband feel as though even procreative sex were a selfish thing for him to ask of her. What if she was interested in it, but she was just constantly plagued with distractions and worries, and was just so focused on pleasing her mate, she got no satisfaction herself. There's nothing wrong with wanting to please your spouse, that's a wonderful thing! But, what would be immoral about a woman "practicing" to just get to know how her own body reacts, so that she could enjoy the process as well in order for the husband to have the same sense of accomplishment. So that it could once again be a unitive, loving, mutual act... not just the wife trying to please a husband who's trying to please the wife but can't because she's too distracted to be pleased herself?

... It would be a product of love FOR her husband, not lust. So that's not an issue. And she's a girl, so there's no issue with "seed." And while she would be alone, she would be doing so FOR her husband, so it wouldn't be selfish. And doing so wouldn't deprive him of anything because she'd be perfectly capable of "fulfilling her wifely duty" after "the warm up game."

So, in what way would it be sinful?

(notice, I'm not claiming that it's not, but asking for the official catholic viewpoint. People may learn from the catholic response to this post, but teaching is void where prohibited. These are intended to actually be questions, not leads.)
