  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This I can fully agree with.

And so I understand, IF I or whoever is masturbating without using pornography and in privacy it is not seen as a sin.

Thanks and have a good day :)

Yes, unless you think it is sin. Because if you think you are sinning--not what others have told you, but you yourself as you feel you are led by the Holy Spirit--then according to Scripture, you are. Does that make sense?

.... if lust is a sin, isn´t it also a sin to have sex with your spouse just for pleasure?
Is masturbating, without pornographic, not as well just for pleasure?
Exactly. I'd understand if people claiming masturbation was sinful also agreed that contraception was sinful, as both separate the pleasure of sex from its purpose. But to state one is a sin and the other is acceptable as it's done within marriage seems hypocritical to me.

The Catholics claim both are sinful, so at least their position is consistent.

Can you elaborate?
If spilling the seed was a defiling act to touch is also the same. Otherwise it wouldn't have been mentioned. Especially seeing as it is a willing subserviance to the flesh rather than the spirit. Living and focusing on what is pure and good (Philippians 4) would negate any urge and it would be good to take thoughts captive and hand them over to the Lord.

Engaging in said activity is sowing seeds to the flesh which will inevitably lead to full blown sin. Anyone who thinks it is a release of pent up feeling is, in my opinion, mistaken. The release of brain chemicals on [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] will only cause further desire in future.

The fruit of the Spirit gives self control. No one has resisted the urge to the point of shedding blood and we are not tempted more than we can handle. There is another way and God is the Way.

The real answer is to see it for what it is, rather than allow oneself to deceive themselves and cut off thoughts and desires at source. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
