The council (trinity) = The prophets (3) Obviously on different sides but they tend to have the same self serving motive.
Turians = Elites (Sangheili) Yeah, not a coincidence. Also, the Turians are the backbone of the Council military, they almost wiped out humanity (the council stepped in).
Hanar = Huragok (this could be a coincidence) Floating jelly that can communicate.
Volus = Unggoy, though the Volus have totally different personalities as they are much more aggressive. But their political standing is much like the Unggoy in Halo, where they are downtrodden and are very much the back bone of the labor forces.

There are more but I haven't played ME in a month and am forgetful.

A triune group is the smallest group for council by most standards. Which is why Blue Man Group has three blue men, to have two in accord and one out of alignment at all times. Yes, they serve the same purpose because they're a council, responsible for races, with other species being considered for inclusion. Just saying...

Turians. They're equaled by the Krogans in combat, which is why they sabotaged their genetics. Again, just saying.

Hanar... not buying it at all :p They're too religious and communicate by vocals instead of tentacle signals.

The Volus near Hot Labs on Noveria wasn't aggressive, nor was Doran (it's just good business, Mr. Sparrow). Just the one who was bitter... I think those were the only 3 Volus in the game...

In the end, all sci-fi pulls from something else, whether other sci-fi or history (go fig that one, eh?). Halo pulls from a myriad of places for inspiration. As ME came after, they may have pulled from Halo, or pulled from the same things Halo did. It's really a small genre when you think about it.

What makes you think the unggoy are aggressive? I'm usually chasing them to kill them. :p

I realize that Halo drew inspiration and so forth. However I've simply stated that to me, there are a lot of Halo references and/or inferences. And why not? It is the most successful video game in recent history.

I was simply sayin the Vollus weren't all aggressive, as I inferred from your post. Just the one encountered on the Citadel. (Wait! There's another Vollus in the game! A shopkeeper in the Wards! OH OH! And the one in the Finance District! That's a grand total of 5 that I recall now!)

Who's played it?Who's playing it? Thoughts? Comments? Disappointments? The like. Post here!

Personally think it's pretty interesting. Controls are different from everything else out there so takes a bit to get used to I think. Ah well. Not very far in but story seems great (love the dynamic loading screens!)
I'm playing through it right now. I'm at the part right before the last mission, and I've gotten lazy in doing all of the side quests so I can get the ally achievements. I'll do it sooner or later...
