  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A possible connection between Mary’s flight, the abomination of desolation, and Revelation 12.

Matthew 24:16 let them in Judea flee. Matthew 2:1 Jesus is born Bethlehem of Judea.

Matthew 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house. Matthew 2:13 the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise.
Joseph could’ve been sleeping on the housetop when he had the angel appear to him in the dream.

Matthew 24: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. The word “his” can be either male or female. Matthew 2:13 and take the young child and his mother.
Mary could’ve been gleaning in a field at evening time, with the baby Jesus being with either Joseph or Mary.

Matthew 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mary was no longer pregnant but had just recently given birth and was nursing when they fled to Egypt. And there are mountains in Egypt which they could’ve fled to.

Interestingly Revelation 12 has two fleeing accounts, one in Revelation 12:6 and one in Revelation 12:14. The Revelation 12:6 account seems to be Mary’s flight while Revelation 12:14 account, well, that’s more debatable.

There is a pattern that repeats itself in Revelation 12. Verses 4 & 13 cast to the earth. Verses 6 & 14 woman flees. Verses 7 & 17 war. Persecution could also be part of the repeating pattern, in verse 4 an attempt is made to devour the Child, in verse 13 he persecuted the woman.

Does anyone else see the possibility of Mary’s flight foreshadowing the abomination of desolation flight?
