  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just got back from the specialists appointment. He doesn't see anything that would indicate that it's a problem with the medication and the medication is showing that it's improved some other areas that were of concern within her eyes, namely the thickening of blood vessels.

He believes that it may have to do with her MS and that this is common among those suffering with MS. He also mentioned that it tends to be temporary in duration.

She hasn't had a relapse since 2008, so we were getting a little concerned that this is what it would be if it isn't a issue with the medication. She has an appointment with her neurologist in 3 weeks and will bring it up to him then.

My husband and I need prayers. He is trying to get his degree in preaching, and unfortunately due to some housing rules a few years back he was required to take college classes in a specific field. Now, he's approaching 190 credit hours and at the end of this semester he will be put on financial aid suspension. He can appeal for one semester more, but unfortunately he needs two more semesters to finish the degree. We would need a minimum of $8,500 for the last semester; $7,000 for tuition, around $200 for books, and the rest to live on. Without this money he will never get his degree, and I have too severe of learning disabilities to obtain one myself.

This is a year away from us right now, and he cannot work (he's back in school because even Social Security says there's nothing he can do without a Bachelor's and thus he collects SSI.) Because I was "homeschooled" I don't have a good enough education to pass the GED, and I've tried three times (my education level is about 8th grade, long story but the only thing I learned past then was music.) Thus I have been unable to obtain work myself.

We have very little we can cut from, we live paycheck to paycheck and are on food stamps. We are discontinuing my cell phone to save $50 a month, but over 12 months that would only save $600. My husband has a free phone because he's an SSI recipient.

There's no other place we can cut; We have laptops but they're only worth about $100-200 if we sell them, we use the internet at college. We don't have heat in the winter or air conditioning in the summer. There's nothing else we can cut.

Please pray for a financial miracle. Without this, my husband will never be able to get his Bachelor's degree.

This sounds like a very complicated situation. I will pray for God's provision for finances and also for you Nienna that perhaps an area of creativity will be opened up for you so that you have a way to provide some family income. You never know what God can do he is the Creator and He lives in us by His Spirit. gg

I missed this the other day. I'm praying that God will lead the two of you as you make these decisions with the specialists.

Since that's a potential side effect.....and since being on the medication things have gotten worse---not better (visually)......can you check with the doctor that prescribed the meds to try to get her off this new prescription for a while to see if her vision improves? Was it the eye specialist that prescribed this? If she's unable to see.....I guess I'm not understanding what advantage the thickening of the blood vessels is (or is it that the meds are thinning the blood vessels?).........could they have gone too far?

We ended up going to the ER Tuesday at the suggestion of her neurologist's nurse. She let us know that he was out of the office that day and on call for the hospital.

We ended up seeing him before ever seeing the ER doctor since he happened to walk where we were placed in the ER. He went to a stroke alert, but came back to speak with us after. We explained what was going on and that the retinal specialist cleared her eyes as the cause. The retinal specialist also said he does not believe it's the medication since what it causes she is showing no signs of.

The neurologist also mentioned that it doesn't sound like a flare-up, but to wait on what the ER was going to do before knowing for sure. The ER did a CT scan, urinalysis and blood work. The only thing that turned up was that she had a UTI that she didn't know that she had.

So her neurologist said he still doesn't think that it's a flare-up, but to schedule an MRI to be sure. So she goes for an MRI on Tuesday and unless there is something major, we won't know the results till the day of her appointment, which in-of-itself could be an issue.

I have a voc evaluation scheduled for the the day of her appointment and the day after. I would much rather go with my wife to find out what's going on, but I will be at the evaluation from 9a-3p. Plus, I am having to drive her everywhere because she is afraid to drive.

Today, after church service the 3 pastors, me and two other gentlemen prayed over Melissa for her healing.

Took a while to find this and I find it hard to believe it's been so long since it's been posted to but I didn't want to create an entirely new thread.

Anyway, here's my prayer request: This morning my husband got up to go to work and couldn't get his truck into reverse. I'm really hoping against hope that it was just because it was so cold that the transmission hadn't warmed up yet. My husband also said that he'd check the fluid levels when he gets home. He took my car to work. Neither of us is real hopeful that it's that simple. He thinks that something like a reverse band or something has gone bad. I don't know much about cars but basically it means a new transmission and this will end up costing several thousand dollars that we simply don't have. Prayers that it is something super simple (and cheap) would be greatly appreciated.
