Hello, I have a few questions (for the Baptists) and would love to have anyone answer with their opinion and more importantly please show me any chapters/verses in the bible where you get your information?
If we are married on earth when we die, are we going to be married in heaven? I suppose I don't believe we will be since many people die and their spouse remarries. So I doubt they'd be married to their spouse they were married to when they died, if that spouse dies married to someone else right?

Also, do you believe your pet will go to heaven or if any animal at all has a soul?
My kids asked about their pet going to heaven and I remember one of our pastors talking about this subject, and he doesn't believe our pets will go to heaven and he always shows us the passages he gets his info from. But he's gone to another church, and I can't remember where he gathered his information from in the bible.

I don't know on either. I have read a thread recently you may want to search, where it quotes reasons pets will not go to heaven, but personally I like to believe they will, simply because we loved them here. Also, to me pets seem to have personalities, which to be can be indicative of a soul, but who knows for sure?

As for the marriage there is a verse that I believe dictates we would not be married in Heaven. Again I am not sure.

We will know each other in heaven, but the bible says that it's going to be a much stronger love, not like a man and a woman, but a stronger love that we don't comprehend now.
I think that's important point for Heaven in general, we just can't comprehend it now.

I seen on tv that Jack Van Impe has a book out about how our pets will be in Heaven and it supposedly documents why.

Jack is pretty savvy on the book of Revelation, but perhaps he should have quit there. But since I haven't read or heard of the book you mention i cant comment on it.

I cannot remember the name of it..... It's advertised on his show. He makes me kind of nervous. Probably because he is what I call a "date setter" -someone who claims to know the exact date of the rapture. Date Setters make me nervous.

i'm not a regular watcher of his program but have never heard of him setting any specific dates. i think he believes we are definately living in the last days and i tend to agree. How many days? only God knows.

I can't remember what made me think he was a date setter. I seen something on the net that was quoting him. So, I could (and probably) am wrong. Sorry.

My wife and I were having some problems quite some time back and began to do some serious studying and praying. One night when I was praying, God told me some events that would happen in my life regarding my wife and then He assured me that we would be "together" forever, to which I understood all these years as being married, however after reading this thread, I understand what He meant was together as in a family or small group, and yes we are still together in marriage and have renewed our faith.

Lets go to Luke 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

I have 2 beliefs for your 2 questions. First, I believe the Bible teaches we are married to Christ, therefore, when we go to Heaven, we will still know eachother, but there will be no marriage. The only desire we will have is for the LORD. I got the following information from http://www.gotquestions.org/marriage-heaven.html

“At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven” (Matthew 22:30). This was Jesus’ answer in response to a question concerning a woman who had been married multiple times in her life —who would she be married to in heaven (Matthew 22:23-28)? Evidently, there will be no such thing as marriage in heaven. This does not mean that a husband and wife will no longer know each other in heaven. This also does not mean that a husband and wife could not still have a close relationship in heaven. What it does seem to indicate, though, is that a husband and wife will no longer be married in heaven.

Most likely, there will be no marriage in heaven simply because there will be no need for it. When God established marriage, He did so to fill certain needs. First, He saw that Adam was in need of a companion. “The LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’” (Genesis 2:18). Eve was the solution to the problem of Adam’s loneliness, as well as his need for a “helper,” someone to come alongside him as his companion and go through life by his side. In heaven, however, there will be no loneliness, nor will there be any need for helpers. We will be surrounded by multitudes of believers and angels (Revelation 7:9), and all our needs will be met, including the need for companionship.

Second, God created marriage as a means of procreation and the filling of the earth with human beings. Heaven, however, will not be populated by procreation because in heaven we will have glorified bodies that are neither male nor female. Those who go to heaven will get there by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; they will not be created there by means of reproduction. Therefore, there is no purpose for marriage in heaven since there is no procreation or loneliness.

My 2nd belief, on animals in Heaven, comes from what my father taught me, a preacher who has done much study in Word of God. He said we can't be sure, however, he believes that when animals die, they go back to become a part of their Creator once more. Now, whether we'll see them or not is something we can't be sure of. I'd like to believe so. Also, when Christ comes back, the Bible says Christ will come on a white horse and we will come behind him on horses as well.

Rev 19:11–16, KJV says:

11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Isaiah 11:6-9 says:

6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. 7 The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
NIV

Hope this helps! God bless!

Future preacher opened almost exactly as I had determined to respond as soon as I had read this thread.

We are married to Christ. Men do not marry women in heaven, as Jesus said in the book of Matthew, which others have already quoted.

But read Romans 7 and also the book of Revelation. We are no longer married to sin, but are married to Christ.

Eph. 5:22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

We are just as much married to Jesus Christ as a woman is married to her husband, in fact the married to Christ is everlasting, while the earthly marriage is "till death do we part," as once a man dies, the wife is no longer bound to the husband, but since Christ died, we are all bound to Christ. We are called the "Bride of Christ," and "slaves of Christ," and "prisoners of Christ," because he has bought us with a price, being his own blood.

As for animals, I once heard a young woman, years ago, who really loved horses. Well, she heard how there might not be animals in heaven, and said, "I don't want to go to heaven if there aren't going to be horses."

The devil is bidding so high. People will put anything at all before the Lord Jesus and let it rob them of their joy.

Personally, if there are animals in heaven, I will bless God, and if not, I will yet bless God. However, I do not believe there are going to be animals in heaven, because nowhere in the Bible do we see any indication that animals have souls or spirits as that of a man.

In revelation, Jesus and the angels come back riding on horses, but as far as we could know for fact, that may just be some sort of allegory or metaphor. There certainly are scriptures that tell us there will be animals during the millenial reign, but not much of any mention of anything like an animal during the perfect age. (i.e. eternity.)

Friends, don't wait on the preacher to teach you these things, read the Bible for yourself and seek the Lord for your own soul's sake.
