it all depends the reason for what your using it for, some people use it for religious purposes such as Rastafarians, my favorite religion and what'd I'd convert to if it was legal, it's just Rastas aren't accepted legally in United States. Why can't I smoke pot to mediitate on God for peace love and fellowship with other Rastas. Sounds like heaven to me.
Instead of debating whether or not pot should be legal, I'd rather ask you these questions. Why are you a Christian? How did you become a Christian? I see that little black and white cross that identifies you as a Non-denom Christian. To get that icon and access to this forum, you had to affirm a creed, I believe the Nicene Creed. By doing that you have said that you believe those statements in the creed to be true. That's why I'm confused by a statement like this one here:
"some people use it for religious purposes such as Rastafarians, my favorite religion and what'd I'd convert to if it was legal, it's just Rastas aren't accepted legally in United States."
A Christian could never write that statement. A seeker on the other hand, someone who's looking for the truth, feeling out the various religions, seeing what's true and what isn't, could write that statement. So which one are you?
"Why can't I smoke pot to mediitate on God for peace love and fellowship with other Rastas."
You could, but you might be meditating on a god of your own creation. God is also righteous and just. As a Christian we are to obey the laws of this land, by buying Marijuana you are breaking the law, this is displeasing to God. Not to mention the potential danger you are to others, if you operate a car while under the influence of pot.
Now, if we put the legality issue aside, there should be no reason you can't smoke and meditate with other Rastas. Except, that you have this strange feeling inside of you that what you're doing is wrong. That's called your conscience and everybody has one. It's something God gave each one of us so we could instinctively know when we're doing His will and when we're not.
You've already said that you want to be Rastafarian, so your heart and mind are not focused on God. You don't need to get high to meditate on God or anything else. I do it all the time without drugs. In fact the religions that practice meditation, do so without chemical assistance. Why? Because unaltered meditation is the bees knees dude. Besides, whatever you experience while meditating will never be real to you if you're stoned. You'll always be wondering "was that God or was that the pot?"
