IMO it is blasphemy. Christ isnt a last name it is a definition or title.
that only the son of god...the saviour of men is entitled to be called.

Do you realize that the person you are responding to is named Christina? Do you know where that name, along with Christopher, etc., is derived from? This person changing his name to Jesus Christ is no more blasphemous than a parents naming their child Christopher, Christina, etc., etc., etc.

I disagree. Christina and Christopher both have the same meaning: "Christ Bearer" or "One who bears the Messiah", whereas "Christ" is the Greek variation of "Messiah". Someone naming their child "Christopher" is stating that their child is Jesus' servant, that he will bear Christ for the entirety of his life (unless of course you just think Christopher is a cool name and you happen to name your child without considering the meaning behind the name.). Essentially it's like saying "This kid is a Christian because he's bearing Christ"...it's a statement of truth.
However naming your child or yourself "Christ" is essentially putting the title of Messiah on the person being named, much like saying "This kid is Messiah" or "I am Messiah"...a false statement and a stupid one seeing as only one person in the history of history has the right to lay claim on the title.
I find that this man claiming the name Jesus Christ is insensitive and unwise. If he studied any part of his Bible he'd realize what an agony it really was to be the actual Messiah.
Slainte!
