I don't see the point being made about not being in an interracial relationship for the kids sake? I'm Half Maori/Half White. I never got bullied because of it. If anything, the kids will be bullied because they come from a christian family. Although I do submit there will probably be some who will be bullied, but as a whole, today's society promotes tolerance towards different races.

Anywho, in my limited years of life, I've found that I seem to be more attracted to women who are lighter colored. Race doesn't matter. Half-cast doesn't matter. I just seem to be more attracted to women who are lighter colored. That's just me =]

Are you implying that the Bible says inter-racial relationships are wrong?
No, I'm implying that growing up that was what was taught to me. I personally do not believe they are wrong in the least bit and like I wrote, if she was a Christian and things worked out, then I wouldn't even hesitate based on race.

Well, that's great. It seems you Aussies (New Zealanders?) have it more figured out than we Americans do. Because over here, you hear about mulatto (half black, half white) kids having a major identity crisis and not being accepted by either blacks or whites. And I think it sucks, but for too many people, that is reality. If I have a mixed child, I'll probably be doing some extra reassuring because of what he/she might face on the playground.

they may not be bullied in this day and age, but they are still ostracized. ive seen black/white mixes that are isolted by both the black and white communities.

It ain't about race but it is about heart and soul and how the person acts, thinks, and has character. I mainly grew up in a caucasin world but also mixed in with Latinos, African-Americans, Indians, Jewish, and even Asians since I don't know my culture really, really well since I am part-Vietnamese and adopted but I was brougth up to believe that you are supposed to make friends with people regardless of race, color, creed, gender, ethinicity, and/or religion and want to if I have children have a mulit-ethincity family of kidss.

you are taking these scriptures out of context. those commands were for the Hebrews of the old covenant. we are no longer under those laws. these commands wre given to them so they would not be led away from Yahweh by the influence of pagan worshippers, like Ammonites. Do not forget that Ruth was a Moabite(somebody correct me if im wrong) and was favored by God for her faith in Him. She became the grandmother of the great king David and thus the ancestor of Jesus Christ.

by using DT 7:4, are you saying that ppl of a race different from your own cannot be saved and they will serve false gods?
Furthermore, they were more about interfaith relationships than about interracial relationships. It just happened that, in those days, different races often had different religions.

I think it depends where you live. I live in one of the most multi-cultural and multi-ethnic cities in Canada (Edmonton which is, or at least was at one time...it might not be anymore, the most diverse Canadian city outside Toronto). Where I live, it is rare to find issues like this except among a few bigoted rednecks. Most people here are not racist.

I agree. I don't remember if I posted here or on the other thread, but your geographic location DOES matter. I was born in California and lived in Orlando, FL and I didn't ever really see or worry about racism. Orlando is extremely diverse, not only with it's residents but also by all the tourists that visit every year.

Now that I live in Tallahassee, FL I do sense some "racial lines". But I think that's because the vast majority of people in this area are either caucasian or african-american and it is a lot more "southern" then Orlando which is only 4 hours away. :)

Well, I know you all are not being racist at all and also I am Amerasian and am open to dating men of all races, all disabilities, anytime and all of the time. But I have usually dated men that were of caucasin ethinicity. Because I was brought up in a caucasin family is how I got that. But I would be open and happy to date outside my race anytime all the time.

bah, Caelum stole my thunder by a long shot :D

i've dated women of various ethnic backgrounds and while i reckon if you stand em next to each other while they definately won't look similar it'll be easy to see they're all attractive. leastwise they were to me :p

i also think Halle Berry could be the woman to unite the races ;)

I'm black (mixture of many races)-NOT African American, and I must say that I disagree with you guys about the children of black/white unions being ostracized by both races. Although I'm sure that it was like that in the past, and in some places it still is. But I've lived in the deep south all my life, and I've NEVER seen them have identity crisises-but then again, I also believe that your identity comes from who you are in Christ and NOT the color of your skin!!!-nor have I EVER seen them ostracized on the basis of their heritage. What I've seen in my life just doesn't support that. The "mullato" children I've seen in my lifetime have always been treated VERY WELL by both sides. The black side especially, because of a little thing we have in our race, dating back to slave times, called colorism- which roughly means the heirarchy of beauty based on the lightness of skin.

Just my $0.02.
God bless,
