  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ever have strange popups on your screen? Is your computer slower than usual? Do you download a lot of applications, files, etc. off of the internet or from programs like Kazaa? Are you worried about spyware?

Than download this FREE program called Ad-Aware that will scan your computer drives for extra files/ad-ons/spyware and delete it for you. It's so easy, so safe, and makes your computer better. I use it at least once every two weeks and always seem to find SOMETHING I can delete that helps my computer run better.

Ad Ware blows, it doesn't do all that they claim.

Want to stop pop-ups, then stop using internet explorer. Internet explorer is the 1# cuase of all your popups. Why, becuase unlike Mozilla, Netscape, Firebird, Opera and a few others IE is the only broswer that does not block popups and spyware cookies.

Stop using it and you'll never see a popup again.

I use Spybot Search and Destroy, and a couple of months ago changed my browser to Mozilla Firebird.

My browser has NEVER crashed since changing - IE 6 used to crash all the time, and there is a lot less spyware, and NO pop-ups.

I heartily recommend Mozilla Firebird, and Spybot Search and Destroy. Garnish that with System Mechanic, and an annual reformatting of the Hard drive, and everything you will ever do on your computer will taste smoother, creamier, and just plain better than ever! :)

I like Mozilla Firebird. It's my good friend and partner in internet crime.

oh yeah, and DON'T USE KAZAA. *mumble, grumble*
Pennyless may make me feel dumb, but I hope he won't argue against the fact that Kazaa sucks. I have no real arguments besides my own experiences with that it did to my computer.

I've been hearing a LOT of good report about this browser~ is it that good as it's said to be, and MORE? And how long have you had Mozilla?

I'm not too sure what tabbing or W3 compatibility or any of the Mozilla terms are about, but I'm hoping it's easy to use, though. :)

I'm getting REALLY tired of IE6~ it's so cloggy, and it's tiring, trying to get the pages download, even on a 56k modem. Bleargh.

I'd like to know more....and would appreciate more info from someone who is using it.

Visit this url: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/ to learn more about Mozilla Firebird and its great features.

There are a lot of reasons not to use internet explorer. And if you are really tired of popups I suggest you stop using it.

They will all disappear when you switch.

Firebird is very easy, very simple and str8 forward browsing, if you have been using IE you will love Firebird.

The nice thing about it is, it doesn't install istelf. You download it, and it runs from a single folder, which means you can run it from a CD rom or Zip drive if you wanted.

Very nice :)

Does anyone know where I can find the free Computer Associates anti-virus? I saw the link for it a couple weeks ago, but can't find it any more. Microsoft was advertising it through their website if I remember correctly. Thanks

At this point if you are having computer problems, it is almost worth just buying a new one and selling you old one. I sold my old computer and bought a new one for $50 more. I got a desktop through www.CrocoDeals.com (using their Dell coupons) for $349 with a P4 & CD-RW along with a DVD+RW (seperately) for $59.99. They also have loaded laptops for $599. I just can't even believe how cheap that stuff has gotten. I am sure we can all say, "I remember back when a 386 cost..."

LOL if they are downloading from Kazaa, I think they have bigger things to worry about than all the viruses they get from there (100%). But you don't need to use Kazaa to get this junk so I'm sure someone gives a hoot about this. Actually I've been using this type of anti-ad software for over a year and it works pretty well.

Oh, btw, a browser or popup blocker only covers up the problem. It's not just the pop-ups but the programs that are running in secret on your computer, sending out the information of every move you make or every piece of data you store. This stuff sounds like a virus program? Well yes it is a form of legal virus they can put on your computer and no virus program will tell you it's there. Even if you toss out a computer every week to get a new one, it will have the same problem. It all just depends on the person who is using it.
