  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

  • The rule regarding AI content has been updated. The rule now rules as follows:

Be sure to credit AI when copying and pasting AI sources. Link to the site of the AI search, just like linking to an article.

Does anyone know where I can find the free Computer Associates anti-virus? I saw the link for it a couple weeks ago, but can't find it any more. Microsoft was advertising it through their website if I remember correctly. Thanks

Just to get my word in on Kazaa, I stole hundreds of dollars worth of Software off of that service in the past, and it worked great for me. The viruses are a problem, but not something you can't get around. If you use kazaa or another file sharing service, I think it may be the Lord that you need to get on good terms with, not your computer. I trashed kazaa and a good number of other things, and I don't plan on continuing to be a thief. Better to do without than to steel.

I know some of you *might* use a file sharing service for something worthy, but ... It's a pretty slim chance, I'd say.

i use firebird myself - absolutely love it. i've already got an html editor and an email program, so that fact that it's just streamlined, tab browsing meets my needs perfectly. the program is so slim that it loads faster than anything else ever has - can't beat that :)

Ad Ware blows, it doesn't do all that they claim.

Want to stop pop-ups, then stop using internet explorer. Internet explorer is the 1# cuase of all your popups. Why, becuase unlike Mozilla, Netscape, Firebird, Opera and a few others IE is the only broswer that does not block popups and spyware cookies.

Stop using it and you'll never see a popup again.

Amen.

I've been hearing a LOT of good report about this browser~ is it that good as it's said to be, and MORE? And how long have you had Mozilla?

I'm not too sure what tabbing or W3 compatibility or any of the Mozilla terms are about, but I'm hoping it's easy to use, though. :)

I'm getting REALLY tired of IE6~ it's so cloggy, and it's tiring, trying to get the pages download, even on a 56k modem. Bleargh.

I'd like to know more....and would appreciate more info from someone who is using it.

FireFox (which is Firebird's new name as of today) not only has popup blocking built-in, but a rendering engine that is vastly superior, standards-compliant, and up-to-date than that of Internet Explorer. Also, you get extensions!! Extensions allow you to add all sorts of functionality to the browser. I highly recommend it. :)

i personally wouldnt touch ad-aware, waste of space. spybot is a good one, but have heard that it may put more spyware onto your computer (havnt seen proof, just heard it)
for me i find IE6 very good to use, combined with norton internet security i have never had a problem with popups, ads, spam etc. and it also blocks alot of the 'bad' sites that are out there.

agreed, defrag is a great tool (when it works typical microsoft product.. lol) i use Symantec Norton Utilities which has its own defrag program in it, and it works very well. if you do alot of downloading i would recommend doing it atleast once every 2 weeks (leave it on when you goto bed) i do it every week.
