• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for THE hope that is in you

Let’s say Socrates is both an immortal soul and a mortal man. Would it take both to complete what is called Socrates?

Well, to take that which is immortal and combine it with what is mortal is a contradiction. Because it is either mortal or immortal. It can’t be both immortal and mortal at the same time. If I were to say Socrates is both immortal and mortal at the same time would be a contradiction.
It would however, not be a contradiction to say that Socrates was mortal until he was made immortal.

First-Order Logic:

Socrates is a mortal man who was saved from death by his belief in Christ and the gospel.
All mortal men who believe in Christ and the gospel of salvation will be saved from death.
Therefore, only those who believe as Socrates will be saved from death.

First-Order Logic does not replace simple logic, but adds more information.to it.
Socrates is a man and all men are mortal is true. If we add that Socrates is a mortal man who is saved by belief, then all who believe as he shall be saved as he.
Replace Socrates with Abraham.

It is an egotistical, self- centered, arrogant individual who claims that truth is to be had by himself and those who agree with him. Therefore, he says “my truth is only comprehended by those who agree with me no matter if it be resonable or not to anyone with sense”
