  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I need to write a paper on a major moral issue. My classmates have already claimed abortion, gay marriage, birth control and stem cell research. I've been trying to think of a personal and contriversial topic not only for Christian but for everybody. I've been thinking and searching for days but I can't come up with anything. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Zounds!!!

The current war crimes being perpetrated in Iraq and Afghanistan, the torture and false imprisonment being sanctioned by America there, our support of the criminal occupation of Palestine by the Zionists with the ongoing murder, torture and false imprisonment of Palestinians.......

None of this occurred to you?

Amazing. Why is that?

Well, I have thought about the war. To be honest, I don't think that I can come up with an answer to whether is was right or wrong. I mean, should we have gone over there in the first place and should we still be there? All I know is what the media feeds me, and how can I trust that? I heard on one channel that we're dong good but another blasts the purpose and says there's no hope!

How about torture, then?

In addition to the moral dilemmas, one part of the whole torture debate that never seems to be addressed is if torture actually does provide real information. It seems that too many of the US presidential candidates unquestioningly accept that it does, which makes me wonder if they watch too much tv.

There are so many different views and thoughts about the war, and motives behing articles written about it. I just don't know what can be trusted for complete truth.

Nothing can. That's why they have you write a paper like that, so you can evaluate each source.

Some narrower suggestions:

1. Torturing prisoners
2. Some living lives of luxury while others are mired in poverty
3. The use of deception by supposed "Christian" political manipulators like Ralph Reed; as a matter of fact Reed's alliance with Jack Abrahamoff and involvement of religious extremist figures like Lou Sheldon and James Dobson in Abhrahamoff's schemes would be a topic where the paper would literally write itself.

Try forgiveness. When you have a person that was a child molester and claims to have found Christ.Do we let him or her into the community. We can forgive ,but never forget? However still on the note of forgiveness. Like, do we let them around our kids or forgiveness in a cheating spouse? Forgiveness in the secular view and Gods view on forgiveness. Or the difference in our ability to be able to see in ones heart and desires In our means of forgiveness!

Well, the true goal of school is to teach you to think.......so--you're on your way!

From the suggestions on this thread and the topics selected by other students, I would say the goal is not to teach anyone to think (whatever that is) but to regurgitate the party line of the day.

I didn't think I would be able to write that without sounding judgmental. .

Why not write about that? Explain why you do not wish to sound judgmental.

When he was at Notre Dame Law School, Charles Rice gave a lecture in which he said he never knew exactly what his incoming students would know. Many had to buy Cliff Notes to understand the Federalist Papers. But they all had one thing in common. None wanted to be "judgmental".

Interesting, isn' it?

Do you have to arrive at an answer as to whether it is right or wrong? I think it's interesting to do an ethics paper when I'm not sure of my own opinion.

You can present arguments for and against, and either leave your audience to decide or start your conclusions at the end.

The important part is the learning.

I somehow have to laugh at this..Lou Sheldons book "The Agenda" is actually a very eye opening look into the liberal movement that people don't want you to know.. I can see why most liberals are scared of him..

Is the liberal agenda anything like the gay agenda?
