  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have your bragging rights while you can Dan, the Giants will not win this year lol

Haha I definitely intend to rub it in until we are no longer champs! We've definitely got a better shot than the *cough*Mets. Haha just kidding bro. I gotta give you respect for being from New York and not being a Yankees fan!

Don't the Mets have, like, ridiculous amounts of debt, as well? Just what I've heard...

Pirates are on their way back! As long as they don't fire the manager and trade away all their good players... (knocks on wood, as if that does any good)...

Dan - With Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, and Hamels, the Phils BETTER be in the playoffs. They have something to avenge.
Is Arizona or Colorado the stronger competition?
Since you live in Arizona, why aren't you a D'Backs fan?

IrishMiddie - I don't have any favorite players. I just root for my team, who, when they hit, will be difficult to stop.

Arizona is by far the stronger competition. I'd love to see you guys bomb on em! I'm currently stationed in AZ, but I'm from Northern California so I will always be a Giants fan :) Living in Arizona has only made me hate the D'backs that much more!

Hmmmm. We've got some NL team from the East Coast coming into Seattle this weekend. I'm kind of worried--I hear they're pretty good ;)

I went to the game against the Angels Wednesday night--sat in the very top row. Still had a good view, though.

My favorite player of all time is Randy Johnson. I'm probably the only person in the world who's mad that Ichiro gets to wear 51.

Big baseball fan here. I watch pretty much everyday.
I'm from NY and we always went to Mets games, so that's why I'm a met fan and not a Yankee....
I'm from Jersey, north Jersey, 'bout 20 miles west of Manhattan out in the 'burbs, and my dad's company had season tickets for both Mets and Yanks. He was an exec so he could get tix for a whole lotta games each year for both teams. That was so wonderful goin' to like 10-15 games a year. Sweet seats, too. Spoiled me rotten (I could never sit in the Upper Deck or way down the line, gotta be close to the infield!) I never realized then how fortunate I was but I sure do realize it now. Even though we went to games at both Shea and Yankee, I picked Mets as my fave. I know that Mets Fan Law dictates that I should hate the Yanks but I don't. Truth be told, If the Mets aren't in it, I'd still pull for the Yanks in the World Series because they're representin' NYC, The Greatest City on Earth. I'd actually always want the Yanks to win their division so possibly there'd be a Subway Series again . . . but I am a diehard Mets fan all the way.

Sadly, there bein' a Phillies fan here makes me want to vomit. No offense it's just that Mets fans are supposed to HATE the Phillies (as well as the Braves.) HATE THEM. DESPISE THEM. HATE THEM. Great cheesesteaks in Philly but cavortin' with a Phillies fan can get a NYer disowned.

Yeah, Mets are terrible. 1 game under .500, I think, with yesterday's loss. To get the Wildcard seems like an impossibility but as a diehard fan, one can never give up. Gotta Believe. Of course they'd probably choke on the last day of the season or something. It sure is a dismal time to be a Mets fan. And no, there ain't gonna be a fire sale. Not sure about David Wright. Carlos Beltran will get traded but if they get rid of Jose Reyes then the Mets will struggle to fill seats at Citi Field next season. It will bring shame upon the organization and the city to let him go. He's pretty much one of The Hottest Players in baseball right now. Mets lose him and they'll lose literally truly tens of thousands of fans, maybe more.

We'll see. Right now I'm watchin' Rangers-Braves hopin' the Rangers kick the Braves butt.
