  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i am majoring in architectural engineering. it's rather a boring profession if you don't like to draw on a computer and write up plans and specifications for commerical buildings. it will pay good in the long run...but sometimes i wish i could major in kinesiology or sports medicine

I'm majoring in social work and minoring in criminology. I don't want to major in social work, but I can get further in my counseling career if I major in social work.

What kind of counseling are you planning on doing, ZacTak?

In response to the original question: I'm majoring in Psychology, with the greatest goal to earn my Ph.D. or Psy.D at some point to be a clinical psychologist. However, I have several back-up plans, including becoming a LMHP and working in a mental health facility, or being a marriage and family counselor, or even possibly social work. I like to feel I have several options.

Now what would I really want to do with my life if money and practicality weren't an issue? I'd love to live in France, travel all over the world, and write up a storm. I was an English/Creative Writing major for a split second before my practical side won out. I love to be creative and I love to write, but I also feel like God has called me to be a helper, and I can think of no better way for myself to do that then the field of psychology.

But in order to pacify my less practical, more creative side, I'm minoring in anthropology and studying French and creative writing whenever possible. ;)

Yup. I want to be a music teacher but I have to major in my instrument rather than just sticking to music subjects. I guess you have to anyway, but I'd rather do a bachelor of education and take some music subjects, rather than do a bachelor of music and add on some education qualifications.
