WASHINGTON — Mail deliveries could be delayed by a day or more under cost-cutting efforts being imposed by the new postmaster general. The plan eliminates overtime for hundreds of thousands of postal workers and says employees must adopt a “different mindset” to ensure the Postal Service’s survival during the coronavirus pandemic.

Late trips will no longer be authorized. If postal distribution centers are running late, “they will keep the mail for the next day,’’ Postal Service leaders say in a document obtained by The Associated Press. “One aspect of these changes that may be difficult for employees is that — temporarily — we may see mail left behind or mail on the workroom floor or docks,’’ another document says.

The changes come a month after Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a major donor to President Donald Trump, took over the sprawling mail service. In a memo titled “PMG Expectations and Plan,’’ the agency said the changes are aimed at “making the USPS fundamentally solvent which we are not at this time.’’

Expect mail delays, as Trump’s new Postal Service chief pushes cost-cutting

Just what you want just before an election that will hugely rely on mail in voting right?

But it’s certain a strategy I guess. Complain about the voting by mail, then cut the post office even further, and then claim the election results must be wrong because the post office can’t be relied on to handle the mail ballots.

Who would have thought that running a postal service was so hard?

A delay of a few days will make absolutely no difference in the results. This is just something else for the liberals to complain about. The P.O. has been in financial trouble for years, finally someone is doing something about it and they get criticized.

Trump and Trump supporters started complaining about mail votes. Not the liberals. I get adds all the time not to vote through mail, from Trump fans.

For all those who say there is no issue with mail in voting because the USPS is reliable, let me just say that I know it is not and I do not trust it with important documents.

My marriage license was lost in the mail 3 1/2 years ago. I had to fill out a new one 6 months after my wedding.

My insurance card was lost in the mail this year. They ended up having to send a replacement card.

These two issues happened in separate states, so it isn’t an issue with a specific post office.

How can I be certain that my vote will make it to be counted?

I’m just going to leave this here.

How should people be confident their vote will count when there is a full-blown pandemic with hundreds of thousands dead (within 8 months = 20,000 dead per month)?

I don't think Americans realize how urgently "we" are choosing our demise as a nation: we are only seeing this as a political issue between facets of political party. Does anyone care about being American - the nation and the people? Clearly not, because this mail-in voting issue is one of the smaller issues leading to the collapse of the nation.

And we are begging for that collapse as a nation. We have been giving attention and energy to a red herring because our spirits are polluted with minutia of this world, and we do not consider the magnanimity of what we can't see. Why is it so hard to recognize who and what is the problem? Seventy years of pressurized destabilization techniques on this nation somewhat resisted, and we just allow it to happen in this generation. Amazing.

I’m really not a Trump supporter, but I also don’t villainize him for everything. I don’t vote absentee because of the issues stated in my OP.

There is no longer any doubt about it. Not long ago, a lot of Democratic elected officials were insisting that there is no fraud involved. Anywhere. Since then, it has been discovered that there has been fraud with absentee ballots in many states.

And as for what might be honest slip-ups in some cases, there have been thousands of ballots either not delivered by USPS to the addresses of voters or, on the other hand, to the local election officials after being completed by the voters.

Voters have actually been advised that it's a good idea to put your completed ballot into a mail-box in a part of town which is known to be primarily Democratic-leaning, if you live elsewhere, since this will tend to prevent your ballot from simply being "lost" or else not reaching the counting board until after election day.

Given that there were a lot of them, it should be very easy to name them and find them saying what you claim they did.

They are.
Huh? Who are what?

The point was that the claim looks like another one of those "many people are saying" claims that never seem to line up with the reality of what actual people are actually saying.

I suspect the Dems truly don't even care about democracy anymore. It plays out this way in their minds....the right (politically speaking) are so wrong they shouldn't even have a seat at the table in how the nation is run after all THEY ARE the enlightened ones! ;They are the true Guardians of society or so they think. I've seen that in comments on the net but also personally I've heard people ask this......why should anyone who opposes the left the ones they consider to be the educated even really have ANY SAY. Of course with their desire carried out it's tyranny but they justify it as being a necessary one.

The whole head is sick, not just the arms or legs. [Almost] All roads lead to demise, especially a partisan road.
