As it stands now i dont know sacred ground is necessarily worth the sideboard space. If they happen to run naturalize in their sb then it really gets interesting and even more draw dependent. In my more casual play group where artifact hate doesnt run rampant, my deck list is bit different. I run 6 talismans. that gives me 10 ways total hit 4 mana on turn three, which i think is crucial, allowing you to reap and sow or solemn a turn earlier. As its built right now (I'll post it later), I usually tooth and nail between turn 5-7, with the occasioan turn 4. If its a slow draw, i usually can use the slaver or stone to keep myself in good shape till i can TaN.
/me marvels at the Magic language...

Ok as promised, here is my slight updated version of TaN or 12post if you will. First i'll give you the version i am playing currently, then the list i would play in regionals if i was to go. Keep in mind the first version is for a league i run at college where the format is a modified extended. There is *a lot* less artifact hate. But for those playing casually this is a great setup for the deck.

Lands

11 Forest
4 Mountain
4 Cloudpost
2 Temple of the False God
1 Stalking Stones

Land Search

4 Sylvan Scrying
4 Reap and Sow
2 Solemn Simulacrum

Mana Acceleration

4 Talisman of Impulse
2 Talisman of Unity
4 Vine Trellis

Control

2 Oblivion Stone
3 Mind Slaver
3 Pyroclasm

The Win Conditions

4 Tooth and Nail
1 Platinum Angel
1 Akroma Angel of Wrath
1 Leonin Anubas
1 Darksteel Colossus
2 Fireball

This list is pretty solid for casual to semi competitive formats. The college metagame here is no slouch. Plenty of Goblins running rampant, as well as RDW, Reanimator, Affinity, Life.dec, Elves! and other goodies. If i wanted to ramp this list up for Regionals here would be the version i would play

Lands

11 Forest
4 Mountain
4 Cloudpost
2 Temple of the False God
1 Stalking Stones

Land Search

4 Sylvan Scrying
4 Reap and Sow
4 Solemn Simulacrum

Mana Acceleration

4 Vine Trellis

Control

3 Oblivion Stone
3 Mind Slaver
3 Pyroclasm
3 Oxidize

The Win Conditions

4 Tooth and Nail
2 Platinum Angel
1 Leonin Anubas
1 Darksteel Colossus
2 Fireball

Side Board

4 Viridan Shaman
1 Mind Slaver
1 Oblivion Stone
1 Duplicant
1 Pyroclasm
1 Oxidize
3 Naturalize
3 Damping Matrix

This version is much better suited to handled a competive Type 2 meta like regionals. The only thing i would possibly consider changing is the land base. The possible alternate version of the land would be

4 Urza's Tower
4 Urza's Mine
4 Urza's Power Plant
6 Forest
3 Mountain
1 Stalking Stone

I have yet to test the Urzatron version yet though. Unless i had plenty of time to test, i would go with the cloudpost version.

Peace

I actaully decided to go on the net and find out what other Christians perspectives on this game were today, which is how i came to these forums.

I have played the game off and on since early highschool, I have recentloy got back into it, but my main problem is finding friends to play against. I am a hardcore Christians with the Lord at the centre of my life. I can see both sides of the debate, re magic:the gathering. I enjoy the game, with both its mechanics and artwork etc, but at the same time i think depending on the mind set the player it can be either a bad or good experience.

I believe that on some levels, the movies we watch, games we play and books we read have a subconcious affect on how we interpret and percieve things, and this is fine so long as we are aware of this and keep it in check.

Me personally? i have not found that this game affects my faith, or ability to share my faith with others, but (at the risk of sounding like a fence sitter) i can understand both angles on the issue.

Err, side note, are there people on here who wouldn't mind exchanging ideas on decks or strategies etc?

creatures with protection from all colours are compleatly untouchable by that colour. obliterate wouldn't do anything, wing shards would, if you attacked with it...but why would you do that?

chainers edicit would....but even they way that you said it, it would, since its not an ability, that directly targets that card. it targets you, then you are forced to sacrifice.

how about. "when this card comes into play, you win the game" ....even though it would be banned in all formats, its still a pretty interesting thing to have.

(i dont want to make it, "when this creature is played" because...thats just too cheap... ) although its pretty much unplayable in the only set it wouldn't get banned in. (type 2.)
I recently read on the Magic the Gathering site that just because something has "Protection" from a colour it means 3 things (and this is a quote from the site, i am not making it up)

[
1. damage can't be asigned to it by something of the colour in question
2. it can't be blocked by a creature of the colour in question
3. It can't be the TARGET (so spells that say "target" in other words) of spells or abilities of the colour in question

BUT global effects, don't target, so a "destroy all creatures" spell like Wrath of God would work easily]

.........Although a wrath of God card destroying a Jesus card.....doesn't fit in my mind for some reason

That was a older post of mine (this is Aburame btw). I know use D.E.B.T to remember what protection does.

D: Damage
E: Effects from a creature that you have protection from.
B: Blocking
T: Targeting

But, I will post my new deck. I made it fairly quickly, its more suited for casual play. I am making it now, I will let you know how it goes when its all done.

1 Tribal forcemage
4 Wirewood Hivemaster
2 Living Hive
3 Wirewood Elf
2 Wirewood Channeler
4 Wirewood Herald

4 Skull Clamp
1 Leonin Sun Standard
2 Stir The Pride
4 Akroma's Blessing
2 Vitality Charm
3 One Dozen Eyes
4 Echoing Courage
2 Tribal Unity

6 Plains
12 Forest
4 Elfhame Palace

Side Board:
4 Viridian Shaman
3 Infested Roothold

heh heh, Elf tokens are FUN decks.

I Like your deck Aubrame. Elves are the bomb.
Heh thanks. I posted it at a few sites, one REALLY good player gave it 8.5 for casual play. I was so proud. :D

...and just type "Christians against MTG" in google, you can see all the reasons.

Yeah, I'm going to States. I'm glad that they decided to ban skullclamp, the metagame will be much better now. A lot of people think that Elf and Nail is dead because of the banning, though I found that adding in Plow Under and taking out some of the clamp fodder for Creeping Molds makes it a very strong deck.

I am quite glad that they banned skullclamp as well. People in my metagame realized how bah-roken it was from day one, so it's been a long time that I've had to deal with the stupidity of that card. And after ravarger became the prominent affinity deck, the metagame got so messed up that I've stopped playing for a while. Being forced to pack four skullclamps, four damping matrices (which you have to build your deck around to make sure you don't get screwed by them to. Even though it would be worth being screwed to get around skullclamp) or else lose as every opponent you play against burns through their entire deck just isn't fun.

I can't believe this thread is still going on lol. I started it so long ago. I've been away from these boards for quite a long time though. I don't really play Magic anymore, but I still read about it somewhat, and me and my friends are going to have a Mirrodin-Darksteel-Fith Dawn draft soon. The catch is that all of us agreed to not look at any spoilers or things that would give away any of the cards in Fifth Dawn until the day of the draft, so all of us would be drafting the set without knowing anything about it heh. As someone who usually jumps at the first tidbits of info about upcoming sets, it should be an interesting draft to say the least.

Man look at all these new cards. I've stopped buyin' Magic cards for a long time. Decided it was just too costly. Still have most of my cards though, (probably should unload all those rares too) But I still have a couple of games with friends once in awhile, with all our now outdated cards..:) (Don't you just miss those old time Serra Angel's and Sengir's?)
