How much does magic play in your decision about whether to play a game or not?

I was Interested in Pirates of the Caribbean, because it is a free browser based game. Part way through it I discovered a whole section on Voodoo. I was really disturbed in my Spirit by it. It wasn't dealt with in the beginning of the game, but part way through it after you have already vested many hours of play.

If you knew a game had such Satanic practices, would you play it?
If you didn't know it had such influences, discovering it half way through, would you continue with the game?

As for me, I felt I could not.

It does play a part in my decision whether to buy a game or not.

Aside from the "is it wrong to play games with magic?" question, I just don't like magic as a gameplay element. In quasi-medieval games it's often very overused. If I want to be trading fireballs and death rays with enemies I'll play a Futuristic game. In futuristic and more contemporary games I like more realism than I think magic fits into. I don't like the magic substitutes many games have, e.g. System Shock 2's psionics, Mass Effects' biotics, either.

I personally love magic in games. I usually always play a mage because I love the play style and mechanics over hack and slash.

Granted, if it's something you feel will effect your spirit, don't play it. But be careful on how you address the subject. Just because something isn't right for you doesn't make it evil and terrible for everyone. It's subjective to each individual person. While you cannot handle games like that, I can handle them just fine and it doesn't effect my walk at all. Not to mention someone could come right back with the fact that it's no different than running around and killing everything.

I'm big into fantasy. Read a lot of books, play a lot of games that are fantasy based. I just really enjoy the genre of entertainment.

It's funny to me how people are so often offended by "magic" usage in games but most don't think anything about all the brutal killing that goes on be it with sword/axe/daggers or modern weapons. But for some reason Christians sure do pay close attention to magic.

It has no bearing whatsoever on my decision to play a game. Well, unless the way it's implemented affects gameplay somehow.

Having been deeply involved in the occult for several years I'm not put off by fantasy "magic" because it bears no resemblance at all to any of the things we ever did.
