Just wondering if anyone think it is wrong for a Christian to do magic?

I do not use any type of "dark arts". Mainly card tricks and a few other tricks that make a person scratch their head. Just seems like when I speak to someone about magic they always think about someone in a black robe performing some type of dark spell.

Card tricks are not "magic"- they're just sleight of hand. No mystical powers are used in card tricks, or in most "magic" tricks. It's all creating an illusion- it's not real.

Sad that people think it's actually real.
Most people know that card tricks are sleight of hand but its really great because if you do the right tricks correctly they can spend weeks trying to figure it out. I just love to boggle someone.

Of course the magic isnt real but it is still fun to do. I love the fact that people on Criss Angel or David Blane show think they can really levitate, but when you know the secrets its kind of funny.

I don't know about Chris Angel or David Blaine  . Those guys freak me out a bit. I think they have some kinda deal with Satan or something.
Na I know some of their illusions. When I first saw them I thought the same thing but after studying some of the types of illusions Ive learned its all "smoke and mirrors".

True most of the things that we see on tv are illusions, however the scriptures do teach that magic is possible, hence witchcraft, this magic is undoubtably demonic.

I think the Catechism of the Catholic Church provides a helpful description of what the bad kind of magic is:

2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one's service and have a supernatural power over others - even if this were for the sake of restoring their health - are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons.

His name is Captain Erick. Any Aussies know him?
