Mage Question:

Hi - I'm a fair to moderately experianced Mage player and I'm currently in a game right now where we're in a sort of ultra-future world on Mars where the Trads and Tech are at semi-peace and... it's complicated.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone in this forum might have some niffty Verbena rotes they'd like to share (or Methods, Talismen or Foci) to give me some ideas. (It's been a long time since I played and even though I have a good stock of background knowledge (being a neo-pagan myself in real life) I'd love some help because I don't have the time I used to to just come up with this stuff, and the book is rather limited)

So, nobody's played a Verbena recently, or no one's played Mage recently?

Okay - well, anyone with any general rotes or ideas for rotes would be welcome as well (I've been working on them myself these past two evenings, but input is still welcome)

Never played Verbena. I don't recall specific spells from the game I was in; I seem to recall a lot of heavy abuse of Correspondence to hit vampires with sunlight.

Yeah, unfortuanately for me I have no Correspondence... only Spark of Life as a merit which makes me very attractive to creatures that would feast on my blood.

I have a few dots in Life, Spirit, Forces, and Prime though

I did a generalist; 2 dots in everything after a while.

I'm afraid I can't help much; my strong points were Entropy and Correspondence, from a "clever use of powers" standpoint. Prime can be fun for hack-and-slash, though; energy swords!

Sorry, I've never played a verbena myself.

I'm currently playing a sons of ether. I've got three dots in both matter and forces, which makes for some fun effects, many of which are unfortunately vulgar. Is it just me or is it pretty hard to come up with good non-horribly-vulgar effects for forces?

Actually, if you are tricky you can get away with alot. Especially around machines and pipes and such.

I actually (with the help of two other mages in a different game) collapsed a building coincidentally. We used Entropy to weaken the plumbing underneath the structure, Forces to flood it, Time to do it quickly, and then Matter/Entropy effect to break the foundation. It was coincidental because of the pipe/flooding trick. Oh and Mind to make all our effects work together.

Other things are done by short circuting systems, making 'gas flare' fire explosions, and dropping things on people with increassed velocity

I've only played one game of Mage, and it was pretty fun. Too bad there aren't any other people in my area that play it. Sorry I can't help ya out, but I'm a Mage newbie.
