*Note, this is not bashing Obama or blaming him on anything. Just wanted to discuss a couple of things i have seen recently.

Since the election, I have seen some crazy things going on around here. On Thursday, two local middle school students got in a fight over Obama. It quickly turned into a racial issue. One student got mad, went into the house, grabbed a bow and arrow, and came back out to fire an arrow into the chest of the kid he was arguing with.

Another thing that I personally find nuts is the gun rush.

I am a big time supporter of the individual right to keep and bear arms as given to us in the constitution. Since the election, there has been a huge rush on guns.

My buddy called me Wednesday afternoon, just one day after the election, from a local gun store. He was there to just buy some hunting ammo for deer season. He was looking at the gun counter and they were just flooded with people. There was a huge run on semi-auto firearms because of the fear that a ban could be coming soon after this election. One of the guys told my buddy they opened the store with 22 AR15 semi-auto rifles that morning, and had 1 left at that time. They sold over 50% of their stock of firearms in one day!

There is a huge gun show in Tulsa today, and the reports are that it is just packed shoulder to shoulder. The prices on the semi-auto firearms are just going way up. Every gun shop here had a full parking lot today. Trying to get in would have been brutal. A local gun shop here has reported that this week and the 2 weeks prior to the election have TRIPLED their gun sales.

I think fear and paranoia is getting to some people here after these elections. People are unsure of what to expect. And other people are capitalizing on that fear to make a buck.

Has anyone else noticed any craziness going on since the elections?

In a way, I don't really blame them. I don't like the whole 'gun control' thing being pushed on us. It makes me wonder why the powers that be want to disarm the citizenry.

Oh, I understand that and agree Wiley. What makes it crazy is it is all based on fear and paranoia of this happening, not anything actually set in concrete.

I have been buying guns for years, but what I need now is ammo. I want to buy that before the prices go crazy on it.

I just aint going to battle the paranoid chicken little crowds to do it.

I've got a gun to fill about every niche right now, so I don't really have any big needs to fill. My reason for wanting ammo is I like to shoot, and ammo prices have been going up the last few years. I'd like to get plenty before it gets out of control price wise. THe chinese were buying up all the crap metal, so the metal prices went crazy causing the ammo prices to go nuts.

Have you thought about re-manufacturing your own ammo? I've forgotten the correct term for it, and I'm not sure if it's more cost effective in the long run, but you might not have to spend out as much on empty shells/cases, if you were collecting them after each range session. Obviously there's the outlay for machinery and equipment, but maybe that could be spread between you and some like-minded friends?

I'm sure you've thought about it all before now, but I just wanted to ask.

Lastly, what happened with the two boys and the arrow? Was anyone hurt?

I know that arrests have already been made, regarding assasination plots, but when was the last succesful attempt made? I don't mean that to sound condescending, I just can't remember. I think it's been quite some time, at least.

My point is, with all the funding and manpower the US security services have, I don't think anyone would get anywhere Obama or his family. Apart from being sworn in, he is the POTUS, so I reckon he'll be ok.

Yeah, that was last year.
Since this July though the price has been falling all the way down.

I haven't heard of any big gun sales recently in Wisconsin. This is a state that definitely is pro-gun because hunting is very popular. I googled "Wisconsin gun sales" to see if more guns/ammo have been sold than I knew, but there was just one small town story in northern Wisconsin. People here care more about the economy and finding a job. This area was already hit pretty hard before the economy starting nosediving.
