  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

it's linUx :p

I run Windows XP on my PC and my laptop dual boots with Windows XP and Linux Mandrake 9.2.

I run Windows on the PC because I didn't want to use a Mac anymore and I didn't know how to use Linux. I installed Mandrake on my laptop in an attempt to move away from windows, but I never had the time to sit and play with it and get everything working, so I dual boot it with XP to get all the components working.

I have a desktop PC and use gentoo and debian. I also have a win2k partition for when I'm at school. I'd like to get an iBook just for fun, but I won't have the money for that anytime soon.

I love linux - so powerful, stable and flexible. I installed it on a whim three years ago and haven't gone back since.

(Just a note... both linux and windows run on PCs. :))

I'm a mac man here running OS X on my dual powermac G4. still lookin for a PC that can keep up with it.
And a program that will run on it ;)

64 bit Athlon FX. That'll outpace your G4. Or even a G5, for that matter.

I'm running Windows XP and SuSe 9.1 . I'm still ironing out the issues with Suse, but I'm hoping to switch to it fully soon.

Quick question. How did you get the Black theme? All I have found for XP are the green. silver, and blue.

You must not be looking very hard. :p
As said by MiccyNarc, you don't have alot of things you can do. Most programs are for Windows OS or Linux.

I like all Windows OS (XP to be exact). They are very user friendly and have many options. Linux can be very good for some things but it is very boring.
Windows has many features, options, and apps. Thats why it is used most.

I have Windows Xp, but I am going to install Linux. Go to www.wincustomize.com for the programs. There are free trial versions but it is good none the less. I use windows blinds to change my theme. You can download different themes from wincustomize. Plus you can get a program to change your boot and logon screen, and your cursor.

No need for linix... when one car run Irix 5.2 on a Silicon Graphics Indy, from the year 1994 (cost around $40 000 back then). It can do smooth real time 3D with colored shades, no textures though :p. Also, I have the original Irix 5.2 media, SCSI CD drive, the webcam... everything... plus a 21" monit , now... I wish it had functoinal ethernet adapter... that means I am stuck with Linux when it comes to surfing the internet.

I just recently got a PowerBook G4 running OS X. I've been a windows/dos user for the last 10 years and this was a big decision for me. I'll tell ya what, I love it. Its so much more stable than even XP, you don't have to worry about nearly the amount of virii/malware, the interface is intuitive and slick, and this thing performs like a champ. I do a fair amount of gaming, so i have a PC desktop, but otherwise, I'd be all Mac.

I don't use Mac because I build my own systems and can not build a Mac. I like the concept of their OSX with a Unix shell and OS 9 wun inside virtually. Nice but not compatible with my hardware.

I do it to learn more about Linux. I like 2000 because it is arguably the best OS ever put out by MS.
