Augsburg Fortress (no affiliation) has just published the Lutheran Study Bible
http://www.bookoffaith.org/bof_new/lutheran_study.aspx
I had mine pre-ordered, so I've had it for almost a week now.

This thing is great. There are introductions to the various sections of the Bible as well as each of the 66 books. There are four kinds of marginal notes indicated with different icons: historical, literary, devotional (usually stated as questions) and Lutheran. There are slick paper sections giving background about how we got the Bible, and how we, as Lutherans, read the Bible. Some top-notch scholars worked on this book, and yet it has been written at a level that is accessible for lay people.
Personally, I think every Lutheran should have this Bible. I would love to see it given away as a congregational gift to new members.
One note: I wouldn't buy a paperback copy. This is a thick book. I can't imagine the paperback holding up to much use.
Has anyone else seen it yet?
Whaddaya think?
There are pdf samples of the Lutheran Study Bible available here:
