That Luther movie looks great , I have already a couple of productions my fav is the play ..Luther .

BTW , The life of Calvin has been put to film , I know because I have seen it ...

I thought the movie was great.
It didn't cover some of the things about Luther that i wanted to see, but a movie has to cut some stuff out or it would be too long.
I thought it was really good.

I did notice that the Luther movie was out on DVD.

I've heard it's good and I'll have to rent it.

BTW, if anyone is interested in learning more about Luther I recommend Chapter 5 in the book, "The Holiness of God" by RC Sproul. It gives a profound insight into Luther's character as well as one of the most beautiful and devout prayers I've ever read.

I understand completely, but Calvin did want Servetus to be shown some mercy . He did ask that they only lop off his head instead of the bar-BQ style execution he got .

If I remember correctly, Philip Melancthon and other Reformers thought Calvin was going soft on Servetus .

If you know the name of it I would love to get it for my husband, he was just saying, after we watched Luther, that he wants one on Calvin's life.

I will see if I can dig up the info ........ so far I have drawn a blank on the net ..

Well, I finally saw it last night.

Very good and very accurate as far as I understand the history.

Two things that I thought were missing:

1) Luther's study of Romans and his realization of justification by faith. This was the turning point in his life and I thought it should have been there.
2) When Luther requested time to consider his position at the Diet of Worms he prayed the prayer that we mentioned earlier. This was not in the movie and it could have easily been included. I think it would have made for a richer scene.

All in all a very good movie. Though I may have to watch it again to take in all the subtle nuances.
