As I understand two of the 5 teachings of calvinism is irresistible grace and unconditional election, but if that was the case wouldn't that make robots? And if Calvin believed grace was resistible, but the grace of election is irrestible, then why the contradiction? This is confusion isn't it? lil, please don't bash for asking genuine questions.

Maybe you should ask Calvinists about it since they know their own theology better than a Lutheran could try to explain it to you.

And I wasn't bashing but inquiring as to whether you were here or not to bash Calvinists as your posting wasn't really nice in coming here and saying they believe God makes robots.

Since a Lutheran believes it, I think it is a Lutheran to be addressed. lil, I don't think you are being nice by bashing my questions. There seems to be a real problem of robots if total depravity was true. Do you see that? Would you want God to manufacture people for hell with no choice or to be saved, or for that matter, without choice so they had to be saved before they could believe? So reasonably, I came here to see if someone could give an answer about Luther's adamant position

Guests (ones without the icon or otherwise an indication that they consider themselves to be a part of that particular faith community) are welcome to fellowship with and ask sincere questions of those of that faith community. But they are guests and are expected to be respectful.

There are forums at CF where lively debates between believers of different faith communities are permitted - but this isn't one of them.

Thank you!
