i was asking because allot of ppl have been talking about it and i wasnt quite sure what to think.

It gives insight to the vision of the person or lack thereof.
A discussion for another thread perhaps, but the responding answer helps me decide how much time I invest in the discussion.

Thats what i like..I love reading what ppl have to say about a certain topic and i learn and think about it. It allow me to grow stronger with god

To a degree, I do too.
But then there is the insurmountable differences and unwillingness or rebellion that comes about from some that one is simply left to shake the dirt from the sandals.

Nope, I'm just a sinner saved by Grace that has seen and accepted the wisdom God offers to all.

So do I accept what you say is true or hold to what has already been proven to me in truth and faith? I'll stick to what is found in the scripture; thank you anyways.

No one has a choice to lust or not. If I see a pretty girl, boom, I lust. It's like being thirsty. I'm not given a choice. Morality plays in after the lust starts. When you decide what follow on action is appropriate.

So Clem is right. It is a good question. Jesus tells you not to lust in your heart. What He didn't tell you is that you can't help it. So maybe He had a little deeper point?

The people Jesus was talking to were intimately familiar with the account of Job, Joseph, King David, etc. accounts of good and bad practices concerning lust. If you get an eye full and begin to lust, flee from it and/or look away. Simple.
Another way to understand it would be the old analogy of having two wolves within you, you feed one and starve the other. If you feed the one that lusts, it will get stronger.
I would disagree with the statement that a believer is helpless in regards to lust, but that is because I have had a long struggle with it in my past and have been delivered from its chains.

Maybe we should take another look at the origional question. If one believes that humans are natural creatures evolved from apelike ancestors and these from other mammals and so on, then lust is a natural survuval reflex to certain stimulus that less intelligent animals use to identify what is worth expending energy to pursue. One humans developed social interaction that included trade and bartering lust and a host of other insticts became negative and were termed "sin".

Are we just animals and the laws of nature that has allegedly brought us to where we are should have its respect - to which, let only the strong survive and eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.
Or are we more than just animals that are controlled by instinct and urges.

Perhaps a bit oversimplified or some may object to the either/or, but I see nothing compelling (if your ideology were true) to dictate that I should restrain myself for the benefit of the weak/weaker.

Nope. But, using our brains, we can make more rational decisions to service our competing instincts and urges.

Perhaps a bit oversimplified or some may object to the either/or, but I see nothing compelling (if your ideology were true) to dictate that I should restrain myself for the benefit of the weak/weaker.

The weak/weaker you refer to, I am sure, is of your species. By Clem's ideology (if I understand it), you maximize the survival rate of your species by restraining yourself for the benefit of the weak/weaker.

We are thinking animals that have a very complex social structure. Feel free to prey on the "weak", but remember that we were all weak until we combined our efforts, and many if not most of us will come down hard on those who abuse our social contracts.

I disagree and I see (in that ideology) that that rational/plea is one 'from the weak'. There is no reason why the strong should sacrifice for the benefit of the weak by the Law of Nature - it is illogical, they are a drain on the community and serve no purpose other than sentimental or emotionalism.
To tie it back to the thread topic, I see no compelling reason under that ideology why I should curb my lusts or settle for only one mate just so Joe Drainonsociety can have a chance to feel good too or to further propagate his weaknesses in the human gene pool.

And what happens if you decide to act on this perception? What constitutes "strength" and "weakness" when simple survival is no longer an issue?
