OK, I have a problem. When I touch, I can't seem to stop the sexual lust. I'll try to do it with the thought of no sexual lust, but then its like i'm not getting anywhere with it. So then I automatically go back to the sexual thoughts. I don't know why, but I can't seem to help myself and I can't stop feeling guilty about it. I figured we're all sinners anyway no matter what we try to do to stop it, but what can I do about this situation?

Keep your mind preoccupied, always have something else to do, don't let yourself have idle time during the day. Its a battle and your going to have fight the temptation, it will never just go away. Always pray and realize God's purpose in this area (to have no hint of sexual immorality). I'm reading "Every Man's Battle" right now, its a book about sexual integrity and purity, you might even want to read it. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk in private. I struggle with this and many other people do too.

I've heard a lot about that book. I may have to pick up a copy sometime soon if it'll help me out. Thanks for the comments. I do try to keep myself occupied, but the moment hits one way or another and its a "battle" everytime. I'm sure there are many with this same problem. That's why I don't feel as guilty about it as I know I should which I know doesn't really help me, but at least I'm not so ashamed that I can't confess to the Lord. Its only when I do it to porn that I feel a large amount of guilt and shame. So I just stay away from it the best I can. I fall back to it from time to time, but I think I'm getting better at staying away. I find that I feel worse when I do it to a physical image then when I do it to an image in my mind.

From your first message it sounds like when you touch bad things come into your mind. It kinda sounds like its the bad things that bother you but not the masturbation.
The best way is to keep away from it at all costs.. obviously lol. If you see pictures of porn just get away from it. It you have an image in your mind ask God to forgive you and ask Jesus to protect you. When you go to bed you'll probably be tired. Just go straight to sleep. Or before hand read the Bible so that your mind is full of the truths of God. Then pray to God to give you a peaceful sleep but that if the devil tries to attack you, that He'll be there to help.

Porn is not a healthy thing. I'd focus on dealing with that issue first.
As far as masturbation, you and about everyone else on the planet has done it.
Looking back I see it as one of the least urgent issues to deal with. Really.

If you are at your computer with nothing to do, get away from it. Check your email and then turn the thing off. Replace that time with something constructive. Time unaccounted for exploits the areas we are weak in.

As human beings, we have to touch. Especially guys. If you don't touch, you'll eventually develope a testosterone build up which causes cancer and other sexual related diseases. Its in our divine nature to touch. That's the way that God intended it. Although, He didn't intend for us to use sexual lust, its quite hard to touch to anything else.

You COULD reduce the risk of cancer.

It's not a fact that it works, and also, even if it DOES reduce the risk, it still doesn't mean that you WILL get cancer if you don't.

You said yourself- Masturbation causes shame. If God divinely intended us to all touch- then we would feel alright doing it. The God I serve does not put shame on me.

In the scripture it tells us to flee from all sexual immorality that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit- and that when we join in sexual immorality it is joining with a prostitute (1 Cor. 6:15-20)- also in that passage it says that sexual immorality is sinning against your own body- well I can't think of any verse that condemns Masturbation more accurately.

What exactly is Sexual Immorality?- Well Sexual Immorality is anything that is sexual outside the context of marriage. Do you have the right to touch to thoughts of ANY of those girls? Are you married to them? Well, you know what you are doing? You are using them- which is no better than the infamous "R" word. Ouch? I said OUCH BIG TIME- when I heard that. And it doesn't matter if you are using the most On fire Christian Girl for your thoughts or the dirtiest porn star- Anyway you go around it- you are using them for pleasure YOU HAVE NO RIGHT to use.

Masturbation brings death- It does, I am not saying I am perfect- but let me share a little bit about myself- I thought it was ok to do it, you know what I did it without any porn nothing, for a long time- I started getting unsatisfied- and then I DOVE head first into pornography- You know how much porn I had on my computer?- I had hundreds upon hundreds of images- and I was masturbating at least 5 times a day. You know what? It brought spiritual death- BIG TIME. God and I were not close anymore- I was far away from God, you know what? I started accepting things- like drinking, and cussing like a sailor, and even eventually sex...well, I am still a virgin- Thank You Jesus, but if God allowed me to go even further in that relationship it would have led straight to sex. You know God broke me one day, It was a day that these guys said, "Dave I always saw you as this strong Christian- but the last few months- Man... you are Bad... Man you have a good cover up." That HURT ME big time! You know it's been about 10 months (which I know it doesn't seem that long) Since I have been totally reedemed from the pits of hell- and still the Devil is hitting me strong. I can't seem to get away from Masturbation sometimes- But I know that I have something real- that God has given me a new heart- and I am a son- I SEE that path- and it's not pretty. Thank You Jesus- I wasn't far down it!- I could be going straight to my own demise- ALL BECAUSE I wanted to obey the flesh!

A Common Misconception, is that we have this HUGE SEX DRIVE that cannot be controlled. Yes it can- you know why your sex drive is so over-active-because you feed it- the more TV, the more sexy music (yes- even innuendos in music make my mind race), the more Movies, The More you feed your eyes on the cute girls in the mall- The BIGGER, AND BIGGER your sexual drive becomes. Yes, God has created the man to have a great sex drive- and it will be put to Good use in satisfying your wife one day. God has not given you anymore temptation than you can bear (1 Cor. 10:13)

I would suggest you to do something that I call the Job 31:1 Principle- Job 31:1 says, 'I have made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a woman'-- When Satan Comes at you say Job 31:1 OVER, OVER, OVER, AND OVER- He will eventually WILL leave you alone.

If I had never masterbated or looked at porn, maybe I could've waited until marriage.

I regret not waiting, and it's hard not to want sex after having it.
