Sorry Natzchjager, I used your topic it just sounded like a good topic to use!

Was the Lusitania a legitimate target during WWI, and why were the Germans in the right for sinking it? Also, was the liner deliberately betrayed into the hands of German U-boats by Winston Churchill to lure the U.S. into the war?

Just wrote a paper about this.

We are fairly cretain she had weapons on board, whether the Germans knew this or not is unknown. Churchill probably did not do it, he was questioned 3 days after the sinking, much information had yet to have been passed on to him.

I don't belive that was the case. I think Churchhill would have realised that America wasn't going to brought into the war unless an attack was made on it directly.

America didnt join the war for a while after the sinking, the Lusitania was just used as propaganda by lobbyists to push Congress over the edge.
