Lukewarmness and losing salvation

Hi everyone,

I been looking for someone to give me a good explanation of the verses in Revelation about lukewarmness and whether it teaches that a Christian can lose his salvation.

I heard a sermon by Paul Washer, and he said that a true Christian can't do anything to make God love him more, and can't do anything to make God love him less. This is very liberating, and ignites a love for God and a desire to be more like him.

But how does that go along with the passage on lukewarmness in Rev. 3:14-21? Can someone explain that passage? Does it say that a true Christian can lose salvation?

That site seems to have a reformed point of view.

At first that link explains that a true Christian can't lose salvation, but then it says this part:

The Lord rebukes and disciplines the true believers in the church of Laodicea, commanding them to repent. He sees their lukewarm attitudes as “shameful nakedness” that needs to be clothed in the white garments of true righteousness. He urges them to be earnest, or zealous, and commit themselves totally to Him, for He will reject their lukewarmness by spitting them out of His mouth. But our Lord is gracious and long-suffering. He will always receive to Himself even the most lukewarm Christian who comes to Him in repentance.

Does spitting out a true christian out of his mouth mean that the christian will lose salvation? I'm confused by that article.

What makes you think this is about regenerated believers?
