Is anyone else here dissatisfied with lukewarm Christianity? It's the kind of Christianity which is all talk and no action. In LC we get touched on Sunday but somehow it never translates to doing something about it.

We have had a lot of converts but few disciples. LC is like a miasma which makes everything we do ineffective for the Lord.

This is very awkward trying to discuss this topic on this forum, due to the rules -
if anyone "lukewarm" gets offended and complains ,
"POOF!" there goes the post, thread, topic, and sometimes more.

I am very dissatisfied with Christianity that is all talk and no action.

Personally, I try to show my love for Jesus Christ by loving the people around me....and by showing them the love of Jesus Christ.

hehe..well, this isn't an attack or any particular denomination or group or leader..it is simply a statement that I am making in general about the American Church in general. Hopefully that isn't too much for someone..

All talk and no action is not lukewarm at all. It is hot air.

Funnily enough if we consider our own sun, if it were any hotter it would burn itself out sooner. If it were any colder it would run out of energy.

It is the middle heat smaller suns that can keep on burning the longest.

And then we might consider our own body temperature; too hot and we die. Too cold and we die. But lukewarm blood and we keep on going for year after year.

The planet; poles too cold, equators too hot; temperate zones just right.

Don't knock lukewarm.

Congratulations. Now sell all that you have and follow Jesus.

(Because the Lord always challenges complacency with an impossible challenge.)

I think this is a problem in all churches; I have a brother "in Christ" who said; It is amazing how folks greet you with a smile in church; but if they see you in a store, they avoid you!

How do you interpret these scriptures?:

Revelation 3:14-17

14And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,

‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot I will vomit you out of My mouth

Those verses contain poetic imagery. They are very bad science (see post above) and even worse poetry.

Some Scriptural imagery is sublime, some is doggerel. That bit is doggerel.

I'm less dissatisfied with lukewarm Christianity than I am with Christians who look down on their brothers and sisters in Christ for not being "Christian enough."

When I studied Rev. I found one source that said the city of Laodicea had two water sources. One a hot spring and they other a cold spring, each were canaled to the city. Of course neither were the temperature of the spring their where from by the time they got to the city.
I take the application to be are we still faithful to what God called us to do to. If we have forsaken God's call on our life, if we are not being lead by the Holy Spirit or what ever Bible phrase is meaningful to you to express God's work in your life or mine, then we are lukewarm. But if we are still loving Jesus and people then we aren't lukewarm. Seems to me only the individual knows where they are with God and we should be judging our own walk with God to see if we are pure as the source of our calling.

Why isn't this in bold font, as in "I'm less dissatisfied with lukewarm Christianity than I am with Christians who look down on their brothers and sisters in Christ for not being "Christian enough."

There is nothing more distasteful than Christians judging other Christians because they don't meet a certain standard of "heat". Must someone be an extrovert (or a showoff) to be acceptable instead of having a quiet, sincere faith?

I'm also speaking to myself brother. It's only the grace of the Lord that has gotten me through. I am just wondering what people feel about lukewarm Christianity and how it is playing out today.

@thesunisout
lukewarm happens. I sometimes feel like one that is lukewarm. Unintentionally. I feel non motivated with the lack of interest of my church community.
Things have been going a tiny bit down hill. Or at least, that's how it feels like it for me.
Does this make sense?

The moon is out...on my side of the pond.

Well I used to call myself a Christian but I stopped calling myself a Christian because being a Christian was a lot more than just believing in Jesus. Even demons believe.

There is a lot of hypocrisy in the church, but I was also a hypocrite too, and I wanted to stop being a hypocrite so I stopped calling myself a Christian. Then I started being honest about who I truly am.

There is many lukewarm christians now , because we are in last days , people often change denominations not because they don't agree with doctrine that preacher is preaching , but because they don't like how church looks like or because other church is in better location for them .

Many people are just lazy and love money aswell , many people don't trust God now , because they trust in thier retiremend funds . They often view life as do as much as you can untill you are old , then they try to repent when they are old age and turn to God .
