Luke 16:24 why is the rich man calling out to Father Abraham?

I have a question. Why is this rich man in Luke 16 calling out to "father Abraham" in this verse

Good question. Doesn't he believe just a tad bit late? Eveidently he had no concerns before. This also shows some other things like a person is alive after physical death. This shatters the SDA the dead know nothing IMHO.

This is pretty kool too, something I noticed

Of the certain beggar named Lazarus (singular) was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom.

Here he lifted up the beggar (singularly) to set "them" (plurally) among princes

1Sam 2:8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar (singular) from the dunghill, to set them (plurally) among princes

To Abraham

Gen 23:6 Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us

In one, the beggar laid at the gate and the other expresses lifting the beggar from the dunghill, theres also a dung gate and a dung port

And ofcouse dung upon faces which is even the dung of your solemn feasts

Mal 2:3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.

Yet here speaks of gates too

Duet 15:7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

Although I can see it covenantly you can catch the Spirit of it through the pictures

I was trying to look at this awhile back to see if it could be shown in another way as well. I do try to catch it from other angles too. I know it says God has chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith (the poor into Abrahams bosom) and theres that which maketh itself poor but has great riches whereas another maketh himself rich but has nothing which is mirrored in Revelation as well. Not convinced yet but I noticed some similiarities, but I havent returned to it yet to add anything to it. Seems to take awhile before the pieces come together more perfectly though, so I usually set things aside and return to them later, this one has been sitting on the sidelines for awhile.

I guess you can say that, I mean, if Paul had begotten them "through the gospel" and God preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand I cant see why one couldnt say that, He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob right?

BTW, in response the OP, I think the answer lies in the previous verse:

"In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side."

It would appear Abraham was given authority, charge over the place.

Another explanation is that this is based on Jewish tradition. Abraham's bosom meant to be seated next to Abraham.

Either way, it's not 100% parable, or there wouldn't be revealing Scriptures like Luke 16:26. Surely Jewish tradition couldn't have been this elaborate!

What do you like best about it? I have heard alot talk about the cov's with it.

I agree.
Tho the "gentiles" could include the divorced house of Israel which God seperated from Judah in the OT.

The Jews are actually of the house of Judah, which the tribe of Benjamin and the Levites joined with.

It is a careless assumption and an unfounded assertion to argue that the story of the rich man and Lazarus is not a parable! ..........
