  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have had a lot of disturbing flashbacks about Silver recently. She was extremely evil toward me. I am still healing but Jesus has called me to love Silver. It is not easy but I feel I do love her. I care about her well-being and pray for her every day. I know she is out in the world still with a evil heart and that she needs to change to heal. I pray everyday that Jesus comforts her and heals her heart, removing all sin and evil. I realize it is important for me to love Silver. It will help me heal of my trauma. It will show me she could have done no better than to have tortured me. It shows me that deep in her heart she loves me too. In heaven I feel we will be friends.

Be content in Christ and do not concern yourself with Silver. What Christ said may not mean what we think.

Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

This is not in the Old Testament, but in the Talmud. The Talmud defines "thy neighbor" as their brother Jew. "Thine enemy" are all Gentiles, or non Jews. Jesus was addressing their narrow minded view on humanity.

Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

The Talmud requires Jews to forgive fellow Jews, but it serves God to hate Gentiles. Jesus is telling the Jews that it does not serve God to hate Gentiles, but rather they need to broaden their perspective on who God cares about.

Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

The Talmud calls Jews just and Gentiles unjust. Jesus is saying that God cares for all people.

We are to treat all people with the same love of God that He gives us, but that does not mean the person who brings us pain and hurt is to be loved as we love our families. We do not need to associate ourselves with them if they do not repent.

I don't know your story, but I hope this takes some guilt off of you.

Who is our enemy that we should love them -- there's another side.

You want to hasten to forgive anyone you have a grudge against, because He said this so clearly --

14 "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
(Matthew 6)

And it's follows immediately after the prayer He gave us to pray in which we pray to be forgiven as we forgive others, no less.

How should we forgive though -- just on principle? At first it we would think we just forgive on principle, in words and outward attitude, but it's more than that we learn. We must forgive "from the heart" or else --

"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."

....at the end of the parable about the unforgiving debtor thrown into prison until he repays all. (Matthew 18)

So, once we do forgive from the heart, then...it is no longer hard to love that person that did wrong to us.

This is quite wonderful. I was happy enough when I finally prayed for help to forgive a hard to forgive person, and then my heart was changed, and I was finally forgiving them from my heart, as He says to us we must do.

I have found that forgiveness is as healing for the person doing the forgiving as for the person receiving forgiveness...maybe more so. But I have also found that it can’t be forced or rushed. I pray for your healing, that you might receive peace and joy in Christ, Luinilote.

Thank you for sharing this with me. It does take some guilt off me. It is good to know I do not need to love her the same as I love my family. She did hurt me a lot and is dangerous to me. It helps me see that it is okay to protect myself too.

Thank you for sharing that. It is always good if we can find the strength to forgive our enemies and pray for them, but if we cannot, Jesus loves us anyways.

God bless you.

Those that do these evil things know about these bonds and they need to be broken. And yes you must forgive her, as He has forgiven us. Once the bond is broken Silver will become just a memory, a distant memory. How do I know this, I have distant memories that He healed me of all of them.

Very well said, Halbhh. We forgive for Christ's sake (and ours) so we can love. I merely made a distinction on the Jewish concept of friends and enemies.

Matthew chapter 5 verse 44

Did you read what I wrote? I quoted the same verse. In context Jesus is refuted Talmudic teaching, not saying we are to love people the same way we love our family. Agape love is not a feeling, but a choice in action. We always seek what is best for others over ourselves, but that does not mean we have affectionate feelings for those who harm us. We forgive for Christ's sake, and our own, but if they do not repent, we do not associate with them.

She was extremely evil toward me.
Even so, most of all we need to get correction of our own selves. We can do more harm to ourselves, than even evil people can . . . I consider. But you are making sure you do not hurt your own self by continuing in unforgiveness. Good ! ! !

I am still healing but Jesus has called me to love Silver.
yes . . . how God has us love her.

It is not easy but I feel I do love her.
We grow in Jesus, then discover how we become loving to people. You might forgive her, now, but then something can come back. But each time something comes back to attack us, we can do a better job of forgiving and praying for the person, than we did the last time; because we keep growing and maturing in Jesus, so we can better and better forgive and bless people :)
I care about her well-being and pray for her every day.
Jesus on the cross had hope for any evil person, at all. So, you are in good company if you are caring for her and forgiving her, with Jesus :)

deep in her heart she loves me too. In heaven I feel we will be friends.
Well, I don't believe an evil heart can be a loving heart . . . not in God's love. But ones can feel affection of some sort for the ones they use and abuse. So, she needs to be changed to genuine loving > "Love does no harm to a neighbor" (in Romans 13:10).

Ones who do evil are missing out on so much, by not knowing how to love; not knowing how to love is a punishment built-in to being an evil person. Missing out on being able to love is probably a much worse loss than any punishment or revenge we could put a person through.

So, yes have compassion for her, and have hope for her > love "hopes all things" (in 1 Corinthians 13:7)
