• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am having a problem with the OCD and an issue of loving God like the Bible says. I am afraid I am not good enough and because my emotions are messed up I feel frustrated and confused. I want to be able to love God like I am supposed to and want to have feelings for him. I feel like a horrible person and need to become less self focused.

None of us are good enough to deserve the Lords precious love for us, we are just commanded to accept it as a fact. Someone once said that it is much safer to look to the love that God has for us, than love that we have for Him, and that is very true. Gods love for us is never changing, there is no shadow of turning with the Lord, He is always who He is and He is Love. Our feelings will change, sometimes we may feel like we love God and sometimes we may not, but God knows our heart and that's what really matters.

Your OCD fears show that you love God, because your thinking and fearing that you don't love Jesus shows that you truly love Him with all your heart, because not loving Him would be the most horrible thing you could possibly imagine. But again, thinking of the Lords love for you and for all of humanity is a much safer thought, hope that helps!

Thank you Soldier of Soul. I really appreciate your input. I think I am being too hard on myself right now and like you said that I should focus on God's love for me and others. I guess I just feel as if I am not experiencing enough emotionally for anyone lately and that is frustrating. I hold onto my faith and believe he understands.God bless.

I too believe He understands, better than we ever could, when the OCD gets real bad for me, when I can't control my thoughts and the whole world is caving in...I must remember that the Lord knows what I am going through and I do know He does. For reasons I do not fully understand He allows it to continue, but I know that He suffers when He sees me suffer. He hates it, this disorder I mean, but for reasons we can't decipher He is allowing it in our life for a purpose, maybe it is so we can encourage one another and also I can definitely see that I personally have grown spiritually through my sufferings with it. In your case there may not be any positive thing that you can see that will come out of it right now. but you and I must keep faith that the sovereign Lord will not do wrong to us. That somehow these sufferings will produce something good.

Now that does not mean that we cannot be free of this or be healed, that has happened to others and it may be Gods' will for us, but all we can do is hold on and know that the Lord Jesus loves us so much and that He has and will do everything for us that is for our eternal good. God bless you and keep hoping in the Lord.

Yes things will be OK! Because when we are at our weakest He is strongest in our lives. Everything may be falling apart but the Lord Jesus is there guiding us through, even when we are crushed by the weight of this disorder, He is always there to calm the storm and bring us peace, He tells us He loves us and that we are His. If only we could always feel that way! But we do know He loves us, if a sheep is lost and disoriented because of a disorder or disease will the Shepherd not stay and nurse the sheep back to health? The sheep may be so out of it that it wanders away out of the Shepherds reach but the shepherd is still there watching it as it stumbles around waiting for it to lie down and rest in His arms.
