  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think you are on the right track but replace every living thing which would include bugs with humans. I think the teaching of Jesus would be we are to love all men-i.e. all humans.

Well I see things in the all is one, eastern theological sense. There's a great analogy, two hurricanes, they are two things, but they are both one entity - wind. Two people, different things, but both at the most base way of categorizing one entity - living beings. I don't think you so much have to show affection to ants or fleas, but to just see them as living things. Anything else capable of appreciating affection I think we should show to them.

do you think its possible to love someone who is the same gender or intergender(both male and female) ?

I certainly do yes. But i think the confusion here arises more from equivocation of the word "love" (a wonderfully wooly word, it can mean many things)

I'm not talking about sexual lust, but more the type of love where you only want to be with them, care about them, be with them through all their pain and happiness. Enjoy doing things with them, worshipping GOD with them. Is it wrong to feel that kinda of love for someone that isn't a man?

Never wrong to feel love, imo. It's a pretty rock solid emotion.

I don't think it is, I also believe people can love eachother without having sex.

Indeed they can, parent/child relationships for instance.

Though some people say "Love is love" all they are proving is their own limited comprehension of the idea. Love is not just love. Love is eros, love is philladelphic, love is agape. There are different kinds of love.
I believe it is perfectly possible for people to have an holy, philladelphic love for someone of the same sex.

I think if you would show love to humans as much as you can, you won't have to worry about anything else and won't have the time to worry about anything else.

The love that Jesus commanded is shown in the parable of the good Samaritan and Matt 25:31 and following. It is not a feeling about somebody, but an action in behalf of someone.

It is also possible to have a romantic love for someone of the same sex.

Yah. Or ur mum. Or little children. Or someone else's wife or husband. Doesn't make it right.

Love can mean different things, the love of a parent for their child is different from the love between a couple.

If you say a love between two people is wrong, why is it wrong?
