• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am having problems remembering to take my meds regularly.... that in addition to all the issues and stress in my life right now is really causing me some major trouble.

I keep getting to the edge of a panic attack with shortness of breath and chest pain.

I hate being bipolar.

Dear Pats

These are all good recommendations and I would like to add that I was also having this problem and solved most of it by putting my meds by the coffee pot. Which is in the same place as the light switch where the light is turned off for the evening.

As far as the anxiety I had the very same and had to get a med to take care of that. They added lamotrigine and goodbye anxiety.

EVEN THOUGH YOU HATE BIPOLAR ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Here's an idea:idea: for you sweetie, when you get up have your meds by the chair or coffee table or the place you know your going to be first thing.(I do) if you turn on the t.v and sit put it by the chair etc.or in front of the COMPUTER!!! if you have small kids you may want to have child proof bottles if you haven't already. I hope it helps a little. The Lord wants you to be strong and healthy and have a clear mind. honey, you are worth it!
God Bless, DEB~:amen:

P.S I was havin anxiety alot and a preacher friend prayed for me and rebuked the spirit of anxiety and it left and never came back. spirits cause alot of stuff but they can't possess a christian. however they cause such things in us. as far as I know anxiety was in the pit of my stomach sorta like excitement of a roller coaster and it didn't feel good at all. also i think maybe medicine causes it. i guess that was anxiety??? i just know he rebuked it and its gone.......

Thanks all. Yes, no matter how conscience I seem to try to be of the med problem, it keeps cropping up.

I think I will try the med packs. That will solve the issue of being worried I've already taken them, lol. Another thing that was suggested by a friend of mine is to set my cell phone to alarm at the times of day I need to take them. I think I may implement that as well.

I really don't believe there's a spiritual demon causing anxiety in my case, but thanks.

HI~
oh no honey, thats not what I meant. demons:mad: can't possess a christian, but they sure can oppress them.
because we open doors to them and it doesn't take much to do that either. in Paul's case, a messenger from satan was permitted to cause all sorts of trouble. after all, they don't leave christians alone for one second.
they connive against us, no doubt. medicines can bring it on also. I hope I didn't offend you by that. :(

I do alot of studying and many christians have their own kind of battles being oppressed. I hope you are right;)
God Bless, DEB~:prayer:

Hi, I have trouble remembering if I took my meds too. I have to have a system otherwise I'm obsessive compulsive I would take 3 doses just to make sure I did it.

I have a little 7 day pill box that I take my morning meds when I eat my Cheerios. Then I always drink a glass of milk before bed so I take my night meds with my evening milk.

So as long as I eat my Cheerios in the morning and drink my glass of milk at night I'll remember to take my meds. If I deviate from the Cheerios and milk, then I'm in big trouble. :D

For what its worth - I have a close friend who is bipolar and a nurse. She feels strongly, based on past experience that proper scheduling of meds is just as important as taking the meds themselves. Her doctor is always asking her questions because of her observational skills and understanding of what works.

I think I'll try that pill box myself. Sometimes I don't have enough left so I guess I took 2 doses on 1 of the days. I get so scared of forgetting!! I know that feeling of scared and wishing we didn't have bi-polar but, we do and this is the place to be!! I just got back from vacation in Florida and I never paniced so much!! On the plane, when 7 days pasted by ( we stayed 10 ) and then it got real bad and I was in the shower and thought I was stuck in there, I was about to scream for my husband but, I kept saying " GOD I know I can get out right? " And I was ok.
Hang in there!!
GOD BLESS!!
Zita
