This is an interesting thread. What makes Narnia better than LOTR, and LOTR better than HP?
HP is meant as a children's series, which I think worries parents because children can be easily influenced. Parents need to take part in what their children take part in; that includes what they read. As an analogy, a friend of mine used to watch scary movies with her father when she was young, but afterwards her father would make her repeat that it was just a movie, it wasn't real. Needless to say she's doesn't get too scared at those types of movies any more.
LOTR is more for adults, so it doesn't quite come on the hardcore Christians' radars like HP does. As adults, we're supposed to be able to separate fact from fiction (although some adult still have that trouble
), so such stories that don't follow the same guidelines as God are not considered as 'bad'.
Narnia, on the other hand, was written as an intentional analogy to stories in the Bible, so it's of course more widely accepted in the Christian community.
In the end, all 3 are merely works of fiction and fiction is meant to entertain above all else.
