Lotar, to make your selector different from others I've seen there, maybe you could add something about views on original sin.
Could you call it "Orthodoxy" unless you're trying to distinguish it from Oriental Orthodoxy? Frankly, I'd prefer the term "Christianity", but there's only so much I can realistically hope for.
I conceeded him this point because there are a number of different forms of Orthodox, eastern only being the largest.ChiRho said:While we are at it, why dont we just concede that Rome is the catholic Church?
With your last sentence, it appears as if you are asking us to concur with Eastern Orthodoxy as the orthodox belief, and in doing so, also claiming that Lutheranism is heterodox to some degree.
To this I will never agree! The Eastern Orthodox Church or Orthodox Church is "orthodox" only nominally. Your request, seeks to question the integrity and the validity of the Lutheran Confessions and all of the believing members of the Lutheran Church. To this I cannot and will not agree.
Please understand that this is not a question of your faith, but a confession of mine.

Yeah, I was just kidding around with Lotar abou the "Christianity" bit, I hope I didn't offend you. As for calling it Orthodoxy, I didn't mean anything beyond naming. I'm quite content to call "Roman Catholicism" "Catholicism" because the term Roman isn't quite accurate - it's offensive to, ie, Maronites and the St. Thomas Christians in India. While "Eastern Orthodoxy" isn't offensive, it doesn't describe me, a Westerner who will always be a Westerner thinking like a Westerner in a Western world. If the name of Lutheranism were "The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church", I wouldn't mind calling it by that name, except that it's a bit long and cumbersome.ChiRho said:With your last sentence, it appears as if you are asking us to concur with Eastern Orthodoxy as the orthodox belief, and in doing so, also claiming that Lutheranism is heterodox to some degree.

I think it sounds right, but I am unsure of what they all mean![]()
Perhaps the most apparent Pietist trait is a de-emphasis on doctrine and an emphasis on the personal pursuit of piety, a changed life, etc.Bizzlebin Imperatoris said:I think it sounds right, but I am unsure of what they all mean![]()
To tell you the truth, I did not expect that it would be possible for Liberal pietism and Fundamentalist pietism to be at opposite ends. I suppose he must have emphasized the distinguishing features.ChiRho said:Classic Modern Evangelical Response!

Could you point these out for me? I would prefer to avoid that where possible.PaladinValer said:To be honest, many of the questions are a bit loaded. You ask two questions often at once, thus creating a paradox.
