MY COMMENTS: My advice is to read God's word, particularly starting with Romans, for in it our apostle Paul sets forth the truth of the gospel, the good news, that Christ died on behalf of sinners.
To accept him as your Saviour is a matter of faith...not feelings.
And having believed, we are justified....reckoned "just as if we'd never sinned", for God reckons us "in Christ."
Are we then perfect down here? No way. But we can rejoice in the grace of God, for even though we stumble, God doesn't and we are then "confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" Phil. 1:6.
So Rejoice! Let not feeings dominate, but act on faith in His Word.
Allow me to add onto Bick's.
Yes, I agree part of transformation is to continue feeding on God's word (but be careful of what you feed on, that is!).
It has to be Christ-centered, nothing more.
Also, listening plays an important part.
Again, Christ exaltating only because
"faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God*." [Romans 10:17]
*God = Christ, this is shown in the original Hebrew text, the signature of AlephTav (Jesus) was left untranslated,
thus referring to here as God's words.
With all these equipped, you should be enjoying the journey of
effortless metanoia/transformation/renewal of mind, and if you're interested to expound the meaning of words, here you go, I hope it would help you
(Extracted from Wikipedia):-
In Biblical Hebrew, the idea of repentance is represented by two verbs: שוב shuv (to return) and נחם nicham (to feel sorrow). In the NT, the word translated as 'repentance' is the Greek word μετάνοια (metanoia), "after/behind one's mind", which is a compound word of the preposition 'meta' (after, with), and the verb 'noeo' (to perceive, to think, the result of perceiving or observing). In this compound word the preposition combines the two meanings of time and change, which may be denoted by 'after' and 'different'; so that the whole compound means: 'to think differently after'. Metanoia is therefore primarily an after-thought, different from the former thought; a change of mind accompanied by regret and change of conduct, "change of mind and heart", or, "change of consciousness".
Brother spursdude, therefore, do not condemm yourself when it feels as if there's no change (that's in your own effort, be it conscious or subconscious). Take it easy and go slow. You know what, I used to feel like you too, and only when I had this revelation was there a breakthrough for me. I couldnt noticed it until people around me (non-christians) said.
As he is, so are you in this world, and as you behold the Lord's glory by feeding on His words, (
sometimes you may not have to be listening 101% attentively but just even as you let the word of God be played in the background of whatever you're doing) you're actually transforming bit byt bit into his image already. It took me years to get started too.
"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." [2 Cor 3:18]
I hope to hear you rejoice and read your testimonial soon!
Be blessed richly!
