    You are saying you were filled with the Holy spirit and after a while you sinned some times and the filling was ripped from you?

    question, I think I may have did this too. if it is not too much to ask, you can feel free to not respond. But doing things thinking you were doing what God wanted. Did you fall into doing works? like, trying to do a bunch of things perfectly. I started doing that, out of the fear of the Lord, I would start trying to push myself to do everything perfectly, and confessing whenever I did it wrong, or imperfectly, or didn't finish what I said in my mind to God that I would do. (anyone reading this, don't go into this, it is not how God wants us to be, at least not super severely, though doing a good job unto the Lord is good, and trying to do what you tell Him you are going to do is good. Don't try to earn your salvation by works though.)

    Don't be surprised if the next order you get from the Lord points to scripture. It happened to me, well it happens fairly often but after the last really quiet spell suddenly I was prompted to read the book of Job. It came to me like this, starting one Saturday morning making coffee in my kitchen: It's a repeating record in my mind, in this case on and off all day , Job, The Book Of Job, Job, read the book of Job. I read it over the next few days and when done it started again, Job, the Book of Job etc etc. So I read it again. When I got done, Job the Book of Job. So my bible reading became Job for two months. What did I gain from the book of Job ? The words of God Himself in there, that He is in charge ! And in the end Job was blessed. I had no special feeling of the Lord in me, had just gone through some trials, yet He showed up wanting me to read this particular book .

    Kind of. But what I was talking of was bartering with God. Saying I'm sorry. Please forgive me and I'll not do it again. Then trying to prove it by praying, reading my Bible a lot, trying to earn it by trying to prove I deserve it (to myself) kind of thing. Not intentionally.

    I think it comes from the parenting I received as a child and not understanding unconditional love, or even grace. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and very conscientious. Whatever I do I do my best. That's why I struggled, still do sometimes, to accept that I'm already forgiven. It's such torment to lose the feeling of being at peace with God. That isn't the Holy Spirit departing. It is our mind.

    I have found the only way to get that peace back is by surrendering to God. We can there in an instant and it is so hard to do sometimes. When I struggle like that I find it is when advising someone else I get the advice I need and then I go straight to Him in prayer. The Holy Spirit still works in us even though our minds get in the way and draws us back.

    Most often there is a sin which is there causing us to feel convicted and in this state. However, we can not overcome the sin easily in that state. God gives us the strength and wisdom to overcome temptation, it is easy when not struggling with self condemnation and trying to defeat it on our on strength.

    I quote very often Philippians 4:6-8 and Proverbs 3:5-6 That is because these verses are instrumental in dealing with most situations. All we need to do is trust on Him, rest in Him, walk His ways with a grateful heart in awe of His goodness, grace, power, wisdom. With our eyes on Him it is so hard to sin because our heart is right.

    When we look at how we are walking, or even at someone elses faults, the problems with the world with anything other than compassion.. that is the first step towards sinning.

    Good thoughts Sam and also two of my favorite pieces of scripture as well. Proverbs 4 too, it's a toss up between 3 and 4 for me, it's all diamonds and rubies.

    ok, thank you. I feel like I missed my door. like God was calling me to do something, and I allowed fear to keep me from doing it, and I sinned gravely against my conscience several times. now I am in a spot where I want to repent, but in order to do that, I might have to do what I was asked to do, and the doors seem closed to being able to do it. now if I do it, it will cause strife in the home, and it might be done out of more of a motive of getting right with God, instead of a motive of loving God and getting closer to Him, and reading the book and allowing God to break me down and do a miracle in my life and in the life of those around me. So I have postponed it, and I heard a few sermons that say that delayed obedience is disobedience. but I don't know how to get right with God. I chose to believe a lie of the enemy, which said that I pretty much had no fellowship with Christ till I did the fast, but I know that is not true, so I scared myself in the fact that I believed it in my heart, that in order to get right with Christ, I had to do, do, do, and God requires me to simply believe to be right, and then follow to stay right, because it is He who works in me to will and to do to His good pleasure. so I feel like the rich man, who believed he had to give money to get to heaven, though I know the truth is that there is nothing I can do to earn a place with Christ. it is all a gift of God

    God is omniscient. He knew when He saved you how you will fail and when you will fail. Talk to a Pastor if you can because you are still overthinking all this.

    I doubt you have done, or not done, anything that prevents you from being right with God. You have repented the next step is to trust. Whether or not you still need to do what you think you were supposed to do I know not. Is it supposition on your part that you were to do this thing? A Pastor might be able to give you specific advice.

    David after committing adultery and murdering someone repented and prayed. He was forgiven but there were still consequences to his actions. While waiting on the sentence to be carried out David still prayed. He wasn't praying to be forgiven though, he was praying for his son's life.

    Anyway, back to the issue. I strongly doubt that God would have taken the Holy Spirit from you until you perform this task. He'd expect you to do this work (if you are even supposed too) empowered and strengthened by Him. You are dead to the flesh and alive in Christ.

    Luke 13:6-8 has the parable of the fig tree which wasn't bearing fruit.

    "Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. 7So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’

    8“ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. 9If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’ ”

    Now I'm probably not correctly dividing the word right, but to me it speaks of God's patience and of you being work in progress.

    Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

    You are a new creation but a work in progress. He'll complete the good work He began in you.

    Ephesians 4:11-16
    And mhe gave the napostles, the prophets, the oevangelists, the pshepherds3 and teachers,4 qto equip the saints for the work of ministry, for rbuilding up sthe body of Christ, tthe unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, uto mature manhood,5 to the measure of the stature of vthe fullness of Christ, wtossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in xdeceitful schemes. yspeaking the truth in love, we are to zgrow up in every way into him who is athe head, into Christ, bfrom whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, cwhen each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

    Also, I was thinking of Jonah while typing the last reply. But you know, Jonah while running from the task he didn't want to do got thrown into the sea.

    Got sent a big fish to swallow him, preserving his life. Inside the fish Jonah prayed.

    Jonah 2
    In my distress I called to the Lord,
    and he answered me.

    From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help,
    and you listened to my cry.
    into the very heart of the seas,
    and the currents swirled about me;
    all your waves and breakers
    swept over me.
    yet I will look again
    toward your holy temple.’
    the deep surrounded me;
    seaweed was wrapped around my head.
    I sank down;
    the earth beneath barred me in forever.
    But you, Lord my God,
    brought my life up from the pit.
    you, Lord,
    and my prayer rose to you,
    to your holy temple.
    turn away from God’s love for them.
    will sacrifice to you.
    What I have vowed I will make good.
    I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’ ”

    10 And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

    At this point Jonah didn't do anything. In chapter 3 it says that the Lord spoke to him a second time and that Jonah obeyed on that occasion.

    In chapter 4, Jonah was grumpy and sat on a hill outside the town. He had the audacity to question God. But God grew up a plant for shelter from the sun for Jonah while he was angry.

    God was patient and still protecting and providing. He was faithful, even though Jonah wasn't.

    Jesus knew Peter would deny that he knew him. He warned Peter of it, Peter wasn't cut off forever for this. All Jesus did after the ressurection was ask Peter 3 times if he loved Him. Peter, even after the Holy Spirit, was not perfect. Paul had to set Peter right in Acts.

    Now Peter knew Christ intimately. He had walked with Christ for 2-3 years and still messed up. He loved Christ and was dedicated to Him, but still denied Him. God still used Peter in wondrous ways. Praise the Lord!

    Sometimes we need to rest in the Lord and let Him do His work. We quietly trust in Him and when He wants something of us will let us know.

    Romans 8:1 , read it here: King James Bible
    There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit

    All these scriptures are not just idle words, they mean what they say.

    I agree, it's encouraging for us too because it bolsters our own faith.

    Just came back on here after a weekend of deliverence and prayers in London, I was feeling better the other day more free and I even felt like the holy spirit was back but since then I've felt that self-condemnation again and that its gone and I am not sure why? I understand people on the forum wont be able to answer and they'll just want to be positive about it but is there a point where God is like nah I'm just done..

    Rose - if you had true deliverance, of course it will be tested. Are you going to go by what you feel or by what you know to be true? Hang on to your freedoms even if it feels exactly the opposite. God says He will never leave or forsake us; and that is a LOT more reliable than the enemy of our souls making us feel something different.

    A favorite verse of mine that I heard used in a message preached on in a bible study format right here in my living room changed my perspective in my walk. Ya know what is ?
    Psalm 46:10 New King James Version (NKJV)
    10 Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth!

    Note who this is about, Him not us. The all mighty God, creator of Everything. We must get out of self and into Him. When we decrease He increases. Get into a restful place of assurance and if nothing else pray. In Davids strife he always praised God in the Psalms. Agree with God, Praise Got, Confess before God, Live with God, Love God and may it be to His Glory. That is submission. We can go to this or that event and find temporary answers, in the work of such things we get relief while there. Submission God understands when it's from the heart, then add those other things and you have something going on. Just sayin.

    definitely submit to Him. choose to submit, let it slide into His hands. He is able to deliver you. it is those who believe in Him that He saves. He saves, not us. He is also the one who gives us the will to do good. ask God for the will to do good, and that He will give you faith, trust, and a new heart, remember, don't look at yourself, when you look at your failings, look at Jesus Christ, remember that He saved a prostitute with seven demons. she probably didn't have that much self control, God saved her, and made her beautiful. God saved her, and gave her self control by His Holy Spirit. surrender to God. God is trustworthy. God will take full responsibility of a life fully surrendered to Him. for His name's sake He will see us through to Him, just trust that He will, and submit to Him. Believe in His Son, and He promises He will save us. Believe He began a good work, He is able to raise Jesus from the dead, He is able to fulfill the new covenant for us.
