I don't think so -- I don't have finances or preferance from my parents (who don't have the finances either) to get anything. So I have to make do with my sister's dog-eared volumes, my Silmarillion (took three months money to get) and my imagination. Plus the one luxury of life -- cable internet. I've found the Silmarillion online as well, now I'm looking for the rest.

Hey, I'm stuck with 56k. Even with the money to get it we can't :p Bleah! hehe.

But I meant, you are the most into it, even if you don't HAVE everything. I don't own any of the books except The Hobbit and LOTR, actually. I just get them from the library :)

I love it too!

I've got a question here - why do you guys think Gandalf never used his staff to fight with the orcs?? He always fought with a sword, like everyone else...

(I've got some ideas about that, but I just wanted to see what the others say.)

/me groans

/me yawns

/me goes to bed, pondering question

To answer Amy's question....so he wouldn't be accused of cheating and fighting unfairly?

Yeah, it's got to be something like that. Gandalf's staff seems to do with spiritual power, not physical. Remember him stopping the Balrog? Gandalf was holding his staff up - "You cannot pass!" - just like praying!

You've never heard the oscermeier wiener song? hehe.. used to be on commercials like every other one when I watched cartoons :)

"...everyone would fall in love with me...."

I think his staff was basically sort of the magic thing. When Gandalf fought, he fought in close proximity to his friends. Also, his sword was magical - he used it against the Balrog also.

So, I sorta think he uses his sword when he's not using his magic :)

(in the book, he uses his staff to light a fire on the mountain, to set fire to the trees/pinecones/Legolas's arrows, etc......)

He has a cool sword by the way :D
