Looking for the best Playstation games

I just bought a PS2 and now I'm wondering what are the best PS1 and PS2 games? I've been looking at Gamespot for some of their best games but it's realy rather annoying if you don't know what your looking for. Any sugestions?

By the way, you can leave out any of the Final Fantasy series, I already know they're good. And you can leave out Grand Theft Auto becouse I'm not getting that one...

vagrant story was pretty good, but i would suggest you rent it.

Be sure not to miss Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo 2 on the PS1. Those two titles alone are worth buying the system for.

Ico/PS2 (beautiful and brilliant - and cheap!)
Suikoden 2/PS1 - One of the best RPG's ever made
Lunar SSSC/PS1 - Charming old-school RPG
Silent Hill/PS1 - Twisted, but interesting nontheless
Arc the Lad Coll/PS1 - Three RPG's in one - good deal
Castlevania : SotN/PS1 - Best Castlevania ever

Don't know if you like sports games or not, but EA's NCAA Football 2004 rocks, as does Sega's ESPN College Hoops. Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance, Gran Turismo 3, and Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution are also great ones, and all $20 I might add. As far as PS1, I've played mostly RPG's (Final Fantasy series, Chrono Cross), but Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Silent Hill are cool too.
