Umm... I'm not sure if this post is appropriate for this section, but I thought I would give it a go anyways.

I like to critically evaluate scripture and engage with multiple interpretations. I'm more of a philosophical and secular guy, but I don't approach conversations with skepticism. I'm very tolerant of a diversity of perspectives.

I'm considering joining the Christian Faith, but I dunno I feel like I'm always led astray. I like talking about the bible and everything, but I have pretty much no one to talk to about these things.

I'm always abusing my Facebook, treating it more like a blog. Sometimes I interpret random parables on there. It would be cool if I could add some of you, could use the messenger feature to dialogue or you can converse with me regarding one of my post. Just trying to get a Christian perspective on things.

My FB is www.facebook.com/mistavegaa

Or you can search "mista vega"

Welcome. Their are many very knowledgeable Christians here. Some had negative experiences with Facebook and left, due to hacking other accounts. Messenger with those you don't know can be used for trojans and such. Why can't you Post here? I'm sure many will respond. Be Blessed with His Peace.

Well... Message boards tend to be more ephemeral and generally speaking topics are confined to a single subject because that's just the
etiquette. I was blissfully unaware such occurrences were happening, we can talk here, whatever I'm cool with it.

Lol now I have to think of some questions to ask...

Have any of you ever had a regenerative experience? I think that's what it's called.

What may work for you is the "Conversation" feature in your user panel so you can converse 1 to 1, or more persons.

Hi there; in order to learn what Christianity really is, reading the Bible itself is by far the best guide. John chapters 1 thru 3, John chapter 14, John's First Epistle (only 5 chapters but very searching) and Psalm 46 are great passages.

What others say should be kept strictly secondary to what you read in the Bible itself, particularly about the Person and Work of the only Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Totally agree! One needs to know the their "Saviour first, through His teachings" then weigh the opinion of others.

Theres more then one way to interpret scripture. What others say is important, unless you think your interpretation is the only one that's correct. Some things that are said in the bible are concrete while others are more ambiguous. That's precisely why there's so many Christian denominations, people are interpiting scriptures differently than one another.

The point of having a dialogue about scripture is to compare insights, that hopefully give you a deeper insight to Gods word.

Unless you think you know eve
Something like this:
I think that';s pretty much what Christians believe. But consider all Christians are at different levels of growth and maturity, or understanding. For example, one raise in a particular denomination that over emphasize one doctrine at the exclusion of another, may cause serious problems for them when they come to know Christ.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Have you ever been filled with the Holy Spirit of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ? One gift of the Spirit is "discerning of spirits" The Holy Spirit will help you know what is the truth because the Spirit is truth.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Also please keep this in mind.

Galatians 1:8
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

But of course you must read the bible to know the gospel of Jesus Christ :)

This. I left Christianity for a time, and what led me back was the gift of the Holy Spirit. It's the most beautiful Truth. :)

You know what I love disproportionately in comparison to anything else?

CANDOR

I have this very unhealthy infatuation with truth. So much so that I'm a bit of a [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]. Truth for me is a paramount virtue, so even if it sometimes requires pain, I take it in anyways.

So let's be candid. No I don't think I've ever been filled with the Holy Spirit. Probably not even close. I don't know if I'm just too damn rotten or not, but for whatever reason I feel connected to the gospels and that's enough to keep me inquiring.

It's my understanding that Jesus came for people like me. It's not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

Here I am.
