• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey, y'all! I'm new to this site, and I'm, well, looking for roleplays! I consider myself to be fairly literate, and I'm experienced. If anyone knows of any RPs that need more characters, let me know. I'm also willing to play both genders, and just about any genre :)

Looking forward to RPing with you!

Hey friend, and welcome!
At the moment, I do not know of any RPs that need more players. You are welcome to join The League of Aldonadi, but we are into it a ways.

You could always start one. I'm always on the lookout for good RPs to join. Of course, I do have my tastes, but I'd give it a look over.

Anyway, happy RPing, and I look forward to seeing more of you around here.

Who's that in your avatar? Is it one of the Powerpuff Girls, forgive me if I am horribly wrong? :)

I'd love to see you integrated into this community. We need fresh air around here, LOL. i suggest joining an existing RPG first, because the more people know you and are familiar with your work, the greater the likelihood of your own RPG attracting players. I don't know of any I'd recommend straight off without knowing your style and level of skill. However, I'm happy to see you here. Welcome.

I'm MD, by the way. Infamous for my sarcasm and who-knows-what-else. I'm not a bad guy, trust me. Yesssssss, trussssssst meeeeeee... ;)

Yeah, it is Link! I'm a pretty big Zelda fan. And no....I would never put one of the Power Puff Girls in my avatar <_<

Thanks for the comments! I think I'm gonna go look for an RP to creep into...

EDIT: I actually have a quick question.

How do sign-ups/character profiles work on here? I'm a little confused on that part. I've seen the Character section, but...how does that work?

...yeah, so I'm a newb here.

Feel free to join Lover, which I'm considering reviving.

And never trust MD, trust me! I'm a good boy. :p

The profiles are pretty much to give details of your character--age, gender, race, history, etc-- so that others know what your char looks like and such, and possibly. Imagne a chaaracter, write up a bio, save, grab the link and stick it in the OOC of the specific RPG you've joined.

Hope that helps.

Characters profiles are generally a brief summery of the character you plan to play. I'll give you my basic skeleton that I use. I don't think it's mine; I think I copied it from some one else, but I can't find out who.

Anyway, here it is:
Name:
Age:
Race:
Gender:
[Fairly self-explanatory. If you don't want to reveal this exact information, give approximates or appearance: i.e. looks about 18 years old; calls himself "Jeff;" or things like that.]

Appearance:
[Basic appearance, how the character looks. Be as detailed as you like, but give a basic look so other characters will know how to describe him/her. You can also use a picture.]

Characteristics(+):

Characteristics(-):
[The personality and behavior of the character. I chose to split them into pros and cons so that I don't only list the positives. Every character has good and bad attributes. No characters are without flaws, and very few characters are pure evil.]

Special skills:
[Anything unique that this character can do. It can be complex workings of magic, advanced weaponry, or maybe just juggling. Everyone has a unique talent, even if it seems like a minor thing.]

Possessions:
[Important objects that the character has. A weapon, a motorcycle, a favorite pen; this can be any significant object that the character will have. It is not necessary to list everything that the character owns, but it may be good to note if the character possesses very little.]

Occupation:
[This is optional based on if the occupation is important or not. It just gives a little more information about the character.]

Motivation:
[Perhaps the most important part of the profile. This explains, in bare bones, why your character does what he/she does. It will, in general, determine what actions your character will choose to take and what direction he/she will develop throughout the story. Motivation does not change except through extreme circumstances. It is different from the character's goals; goals may change based on what the character hopes to achieve. Motivation, however, remains constant regardless of the goal.]

Biography:
[This is optional; I never include a biography. However, I always have a basic biography in my mind. It is important to know what your character has experienced in the past as it makes him/her part of who he/she is. However, others do not need to know that detailed information, in my opinion, so I leave it out. Besides, it saves me about an hour's worth of time not to do it. But most people include one, and it is important to know the character's biography whether you include it or not.]

Here's an example to show you how it works in action: Moonhawk Johnson

So there you have it. Pick and choose what you like and come up with your own style. You can copy mine if you don't feel ready to create your own. If you need or want more help, feel free to ask.

Wow, Shadow, I think I'll add Motivation to my template. Should help me out a lot.

Mine's not too different. i think I started with megachihuahua's guide and thew things out and put things in, fused things and split things till i just started using the same one on a consistent basis.
