Hell there. I am a little new to this site and am not sure if this is the right place to post the following question. So, I'll trust the moderator s to use good judgement. :)

Some years ago, I believe that God has given me a vision indicating what He's wanting me to do. Simply put, God is wanting me to write for His Kingdom.

So far, I have only managed to see my stuff published on my site bethberakah.com and in my church's newletter. My problem is, writing is a large field and it would help to know who to write for.

I am working from the view of "Yes, God will do all the work and yet wants me to move forward and do something."

Well, thanks for your time and have a blessed day. Looking forward to any comments.

God has told me to write a book as well. I've started but have a long way to go.

I guess who to write for can be determined on the subject matter of what you are writing. For example, my book is my testimony so my target audience is women from the ages of 16 and up. I will reveal all, being completely transparent with the hurts, pain, struggles, wrong actions, etc in hopes that another woman going through what I've been through can be encouraged to know that she can make it as well.

I am in NO WAY an expert as I need advice as well on how to get my book published vs. self-publishing, marketing it, etc.

I hope the little I've said was able to help a least a little bit.

God Bless and continue to press!

For books, I have often heard "The Writers Market 2007" is quite useful for finding potential publisher. You may also want to look at who published other women's memoirs.

One comment that I often heard was, "Get a literary agent" to help you navigate your book through the various hoops.

As for me, I'm currently writing articles that may go in a magazine or something.

Dear BarryB

Is it YOUR vision to be a GREAT author or reach a MUTITUDE of folks???

Just how much is JUST ONE SOUL SAVED WORTH???

Might you be the very one that goes after the lost lamb???

When you see a need just ask the LORD to loose your hand and write what it is that is given to you. You might find yourself saying I can't believe I wrote that.

BUT

You are right because you didn't. It was the HOLY SPIRIT through you that wrote that.

" ALL GLORY AND HONNER BELONGS TO GOD FOR EVER "

You have received a GIFT from GOD that will bring JOY to your heart. And maybe some PAIN to. LOL

WHAT A JOY IT IS TO REMEMBER:

X Even though you can't see him, GOD is there!!! O

Learn all you can. Do all you can. Trust the Lord with your whole heart and He will bring it to pass.

We need to put forth effort to be faithful to what we're called to do, only God can make all the details come together. You'll know that you're balanced as you walk out your calling in His peace.

Blessings to you as you watch your calling unfold... -PW

That’s cool! How about children or even high school kids? Think of all the questions you could help answer. Think of all the issues teens face. Can you communicate Gods word to kids in a way they might understand and appreciate?
How about a web site as a resource for kids?

I’m no writer, but have you thought of self publishing? If you can market the book there are companies who will print the copies as you sell them and you can even set up a site where people can order your book from the publisher as they sell.

It’s such a hard market out there. Many great books are never published simply because they are often difficult to market. That’s why celebrities can easily get there stuff published. They have the marketing power. A lot of what you read by well known people is just trash yet they get their books sold.

Update:
I just read over your post more carefully. In regards to self publishing, check it out. It’s not as expensive as most people think. The key is marketing!!.

Then what are these words doing in your post???

You also have a GIFT but fail to recognize it. Must be nice to do it in your sleep.

By the way this is not meant as a smart a_s reply!!!

Thanks Wonderwaleye! You may be right. Ironically my best grades in college where in communication and composition, but I always wanted to be a business man. I use my talents in that arena as best I can.

Glad to hear it! I'm trying to write as well.

Some suggestions:

1) Look at secular advice on how to write, and look for the gold among the straw. "Write what you know" is alwats good advice.

2) Read as much as you can. Which books do you find good? Why?

3) See how other authors have published. Look for blogs/web sites by authors. Some Christian authors may welcome email contact.

4) Start small -- a web site/blog is a good place to start.

God bless you in this endeavour.
