" 20And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 11: 20-26

A question for all theologians.

The Newf. and I were watching John Hagee's program this morning and John quoted this verse; "verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."

This among other such verses have troubled me through the years.

Was Jesus using a figure of speech here or are Christians who have prayed such prayers which have not be answered simply suffered from a lack of faith when it was not answered?

I take it that John is somewhat Charismatic in doctrine.

this verse is miss used by the wof (word of faith movment). john h. and most on tbn, etc. are apart of this movment. the sad thing is the way they teach this verse, make it as you said, as though you do not have enough faith. also they make it sound that is you don't give enough the same is true. (God help them).

was jesus talking about real mountains, i don't know.i have heard many things on the subject. but all are differnt.

What you must remember is that God has a plan or us all and if what you want now is not what is in God's plan then no matter how much you pray you will not get it.

And this does not mean you are not good enough, or not "holy" enough, it just means God has something else in store for you, and that is a joyous thing.
