Is KOTOR an RPG? I thought it was a FPS or something similar.

Anyway, BG2 is an EXCELLENT single-player RPG. Also Planescape: Torment, which is one of the best RPGs ever.

If you want Japanese-style, I think there's one with a name like "Gradia" or something, and there's another called Septerra Core, both of which got at least tolerable reviews.

Or, for post-holocaust bliss, try Fallout and Fallout 2.

I don't care what you think about the story, just because you like Baldur's Gate better than Diablo 2, doesn't make Diablo 2 "not an rpg."

D2 is fairly marginally an RPG. There's really no character development; your character stays unchanged throughout, gaining numbers but not characterization.

(That said, I'm biased against D2. I won the first Diablo, and I resent a game being based on the thesis that my carefully balanced character who finally whupped that game somehow lost anyway. Why bother playing? They'll just kill my character off anyway.)

It's definitely an RPG. For me, the view is 3rd person, a chase cam slightly behind the character I have selected.

Well, yeah, but... What's the game LIKE? I mean, character advancement? Plot? Storyline? I guess I thought it was one of the "mission-based" things LucasArts does with a fixed storyline told through a series of missions.

You can control a small squad of characters. You level in roughly the same way as Neverwinter Nights. Quests can vary depending on who you have in your squad (but the overall storyline is fixed), members of your squad will sometimes talk or argue to each other and talk about their past, and your character's actions determine where it is on the light/dark side axis, which influences the ending.

Aw, come one seebs, can't have a happy ending to every story, and at least your doomed character was avenged by hero #2.

Sure. Until they decide to release Diablo 3, and reveal retroactively that Hero #2 was actually taken over, so Hero #3 has to kill him.

I'm not falling for that again.

If you find a good emulator site, could you send it to me? I got a great SNES site if you want it. Thanks!

I dunno, a bit of casual googling turns up several decent Genesis emulators.

Can you wander around and go off the storyline?

The Deus Ex set in an RPG/shooter. Its more than shooting though. ITs a dark and deep story with riviting detail, a LOT of weapons and items, and the best of all is that you can choose between certain objectives, thus creating a unique outcome to a situation.

Its the best, but it is very underrated. The original can be picked up for $1 but it is worth $1000 is my book.

Ok, if you've finished Lord of Destruction, you should know that there is no way for your character in D2 to be taken over. You know what? They should be making D3 right now and not some stupid warcraft rpg. I mean COME ON!!! I wanna see another Diablo! And Starcraft, I mean, is Warcraft the only game blizzard cares about anymore?

BEST RPGS EVER...

I also very highly recommend Morrowind. You need a decent computer to run it well(anything bought in the last 2-3 years will do fine). It's an amazing game. You can get lost in it for months, sometimes longer. I've been playing it on and off since it came out.
