If you have super clean glass containers (that are wrapped in a super awesome insulation that would not break in an Earthquake), then I would go with glass containers (if you can afford it).

If you are only looking for an affordable 5 year storage of water (that you would use the supply and then replenish with buying new containers every 5 years), then you can buy them on Amazon.

Just make sure you mark an expiration date on it clearly so you don't get potentially sick for drinking it past the expiration date. Also, make sure you throw away your old 5 year containers and get new ones.
What about an immediate supply for a bug out bag?
I'm no expert on this, but I didn't think water went "bad". If it is kept from any sort of contamination, why wouldn't it last indefinitely? So any container that didn't impart chemicals or bacteria, etc. should be fine?
Don't forget that most every household will have a hot water heater that has at least 30 gallons or more of drinkable H20 and also the toilet tanks that haven't been used or flushed will be full of water.
